Found these at good ole Hobby Lobby the other day while picking up some other things i needed. They are pretty close in size to my other minis (perhaps half a head larger). Once i get the time i'll be basing them for my game next week. They arnt really cheap but at around 2 bucks each it's not bad.

Yeah the paint jobs are lacking but that's okay for what they are. I may head back and grab another set. I could repaint the next set so they look different. I got a bunch of paper craft villagers from another post but I like miniatures.

I've picked those up a hundred times, and put them back on the shelf. I just can't bring myself to pay ten bucks for them. If they ever went on sale, maybe I would.

Haha same here, with those guys and the monk set. We should all petition the company that makes them into making them a hair smaller, and show them the huge customer base they'd gain. :-P

The Hobby Lobby I go to puts those miniatures right next to some Native American sets and I've done the same thing. I've put those things in the cart or basket dozens of times, but never quite get to the cash register with them....

@ adamantinedragon : ok , so if you have picked them up a hundred times , then you have been in and out of hobbylobby several times . so each time you go back , take a 40% off coupon with you , and boom , they are on sale

Oh man I forgot all about the coupons, they are printable online right? My neighbor gave me one last year right before I bought a huge block of clay, saved me a ton of money. I think they are for one item, the % off.

yes , they are printable online . just go to their website , the rules are one coupon per customer per visit , and they make a new one every week , so you gotta print new ones if the old ones expire because the cashiers need the new code # on them . OR if you have a smart phone , you can use the digital version as long as its big enough for the cashier to see the code # . fortunatly for me there are 2 on the pathto my FLGS (if i take a little scenic rout , so i print up 4 , hit each on the way there , and swing back by on the way home .
each coupon is good for 40% off !

So they would be around 1.20 each. Yeah that sounds better. Just wish I had done that on my first purchase, oh well live and learn.

I bought a pack of the monks and a pack of the castle dwellers over 2 visits using the 40% off coupons. They are just barely out of the 28mm scale but if you mix and match minis from various sources they fit right in. With the coupon they come to under half the price of a Reaper Bones mini each so are decently priced for NPC village miniatures. Here's some pics of them with other minis for scale: From left to right 3 D&D mini humans, 4 of the Scene setter Monks, Gandalf Heroclix rebased. From left to rights 3 D&D mini humans, 5 of the Scene setter Castle Dweller humans, Lorelei Heroclix, Gandalf Heroclix. From left to right,Zerboz human torch, 2 Reaper bones humans, Scene Setter monk, Heroclix gandalf, D&D Human, Pathfinder battles Succubus, Clue board game Ms Scarlet. From left to right unpainted Reaper Bones human female, Clue Ms Scarlet, Heroclix Lorelei, Scene Setter Castle Dweller female, D&D mini human female, Zerboz Storm, Heroscape female warrior, Pathfinder Battles Succubus. I'm debating going back and getting the Egyption culture scene setters they just added at the local Hobby Lobby.

Since they are block painted already, apply The Dip technique, then matte clear coat, and dress up their bases. Simple, fast, low-cost, and effective. Cheers!

Ive been working a lot this week , so I've only just got mine on bases. I'll paint them all up this weekend and probably go get another pack w/coupon.

If you have a cell phone with internet capability, then you can pull up the coupon right at the cash register and show it to the cashier. They will enter the code from the coupon and bingo! You have just saved 40%!
I bought some paint that way last week.

Makes it much easier to find at the register, lol.

Give them a paint wash with some sepia colour, add some sand to the base with white glue and drybrush. That will take a few minutes (+ drying time).

I can't wait for the hobby lobby in my town to open, less than a week left! Gonna be tempting to grab some of these when it does. Went on a mini painting binge this weekend after picking up spiders, dragons, zombies, and skeletons (none of which my parties are likely to encounter for a while...) from the dollar tree so I wouldn't mind adding a few more pieces to the mix.

I don't know if this has been mentioned about the Hobby Lobby 40% coupon, but you do not need to print it. On your smart phone, go to the e-mail they send you. At the bottom, click on the 40% off coupon, it will take you to their weekly flyer. Near the top right is a button for a Printable Coupon, click that. Just show them that, as long as they can see the 4 digit number, you're good. I usually make a snap shot of the screen (on iPhone, press the circle button and the lock button simultaneously), so I don't have to have internet access while I'm there.
Hope that helps someone.
