Hey everybody! So I have off of work tomorrow and Im planning on running out to get some supplies that I need, one place I wanna go is the Dollar Tree, and maybe Dollar General. Hopefully everybody knows what they are. I dont go very often because they are both a bit of a drive from my apartment, and Im trying to make myself a list of things to look for or things that I should get based on all the stuff Ive seen on the forum, but I know in forgetting stuff. I was wondering if you guys could give me some ideas of things to look for at thise places, or things youve found there. Like I said I dont go often so I dont really know whats there

we have Dollarstores and Dollaramas in Canada - what I have gotten from mine that have been useful
Plastic squares of decorative leaves/grass. I used them to make bushes like how DMScotty used aquarium flora Bags of fake moss. Used for Moss Flocking Construction and craft sand: They usually have their jars in fine sand or pebbles, so I had to manually combine them after i bought them Large Black, White, Grey, and Brown acrylic paint bottles. These are the most common colors i go through so I make sure to stock up on them Popsicle sticks Beads and plastic gem beads

Stuff I've bought at Dollar General, Dollar Tree or other similar stores:
foam core posterboard electric "candles" dry erase markers dinosaurs Marvel and DC miniatures (a bit too big to use as medium humanoids, but great for giants) Bugs Spice for flocking Rocks, sand, glass beads Glue Wire snippers (poor quality for cutting wire, but great for cutting plastic and wood bits) Moss, lichen, potpourri or other stuff usable for making grass, bushes and trees
Shoot there's probably a dozen or more other things. I rarely go a week without stopping in a dollar store.

Don't forget the kitchen aisle. Many kitchen tools and equipment are great for art tools. Bowls, sponges, strainers, spatulas, cheesecloth, cutting boards, etc etc Also cheap paintbrushes (large and small), foam brushes, masking tape, white glue, etc in the school/craft/hardware sections. The trick isn't having a list, it's being able to think creatively while shopping

You go girl! $80? Not bad! I once spent something like that at the Dollar Tree. I was moving into a new apartment after separating from my X. I needed everything!
Somethings I get regularly at the Dollar Tree are:
Glue Sticks Craft knives (the ones you can break off the blade) 4 to pack! Poster board Foamcor board Project boards (the tri-fold cardboard type)
I have also found in the party decorations isle Over sized plastic coins (great for medallions) Miniature trophy cups (great for urns) Dolls (statues) fake moss rocks (Styrofoam) and all kinds of creepy crawlies for monsters.
Plus, with all the stuff mentioned above, the various dollar stores are a creative crafters treasure trove!
Can't wait to see what you put together with you finds!

Oh my goodness so much candy spending going on!! Yes, I can post a photo of all the stuff I got. Right now it is still in my car though because I have to pick up my other projects a bit to make room for it all. I got a lot of stares walking out of the dollar tree with my arms just FULL of bags. The one I went to is in a little strip mall, so there were people there for other stores. I walked with pride and stuck it in their faces, because I got some gooooood stuff.

So here it is, my Dollar Store haul. Because I spent $80 at one store I didn't go to any others. Your guy's suggestions were very helpful! Basically I got everything I could find. If its not in the pile then they either didn't have it, or I already have too much of it in my craft room. I have a lot of stuff in my craft room. Anyways, here you go! Sorry the picture is so blurry, I have a few more that are better. Just got some pretty general stuff, cotton balls, aluminum foil, styrofoam plates for paints, wire, river rocks, floral foam. I have an awesome project I'm planning on doing with those. Also I found these things here, I'm not sure what I will use them for but it will be something! All the cars I will be using for my current campaign since it is set in the modern day world. Then I got these mats to use for general maps, like I'll have a few forest, water, mountain, whatever for underneath my tiles. In the picture I already had them spray painted black. I got the idea from someone here on the forum, and I wanted to make sure I gave them the credit but I cannot find the post and I don't remember who it was! So whoever did this thanks! Or if someone knows which thread it is please let me know. So, ya. Dollar Tree. I don't have anything done with it yet, because I had to go see Guardians of the Galaxy but now that I won't be sleeping for the next 4 days because of sheer awesomeness you guys will be seeing lots of projects from me in the next few days!

Yay! Can't wait to see what you do!
Because of wind, illness and excessive homework, (all reasons my players couldn't make it today), my game has been postponed till next Sunday. My husband told me I have the whole to finish up whatever projects I'm working on, and then for the following couple of weeks he needs me to help him with projects around the house. So, I need to get to it!

Step 1, get a cart (or at least a basket). Step 2, walk up and down every aisle.
