I created the following set of tiles for a small tower-house. I have not quite finished the roof/battlements but tomorrow it has to be in play so I will have to roll with the roof as is. The map is pretty small. If I had it to do over again I would have made the overall tower larger just for a little more room but it makes for a nice location. The layout and comes from the Skull and Shackles AP book 2 "Tidewater Rock." I used a set of printed tiles for the floor and polystyrene for the walls both have a greenish-grey tone to them. I cut the polystyrene to shape with a thin retractable knife (no hot wire necessary). I added doors and furniture where I could and I have a pair of minis exploring the tower-house for scale. The Front Door The 1st Floor- Mostly storage. The ladder to the second floor The Second Floor- trap door The Second Floor- Searching The Second Floor Stairs The Third Floor The Third Floor searching the servants quarters and the kitchen. The Third Floor- More stairs The 4th Floor The 4th Floor- oooohhh a chest . . . lets check it for treasure. The 4th Floor- More of the master suite The 4th Floor- Yet even more stairs The roof unfinished Things I learned from this project. Test layouts with your furniture before you cut your floor or walls. I prefer buildings to reasonable scale (ie not super gigantic like 40 wide kitchens or 20 foot closets) but still I would have liked a little more room for this one. I added stairs but if I had it to do over i would have used DM Scotty's stair style technique for a better look to the stairs.

I will say my pictures did fail to capture the variation in tone of the floor and the green in the walls does not pop.

I really like the clear plastic you used for the door bases. That's a smart idea.

Yeah that is my favorite trick. I use the heavy clear plastic that is toy and various product packaging. Its abundant and free but it makes great bases.
So we played on these tiles yesterday. Its beyond official it should have been bigger. The tiles are 6x8 as the maps in the AP layed them out, but I should gone 8x10 for extra space. The AP mentions a cramped feel but really this was ridiculous it made sitting NPCs and PCs around the dining room table a chore before the fight broke out around the same table.

I just happen to be needing a base for a flying mini. Thanks for the idea that I just stole and don't even fell bad about doing it.

Excellent combination of techniques and elements. It got me thinking of all sorts of evil combinations of critters to attack adventurers in a tower with

Couldn't imagine a huge maul, lol. I was looking through the pics trying to see the face. At first I thought it was going to be a scene out of Home Improvement where you never see the neighbors face.

I really like how that came out, and I really like the furniture there. I think my favorite is the wooden disk table.

Thanks the table is a button on top of a small metal cylinder. I have no idea where the cylinder orginated but it was in the utility room junk drawer when we bought the house 8 years ago.
