I use an HP Photosmart 5520 series, either 80gsm or 160gsm paper (so its just thick paper, not really card stock per se) and A continuous Ink Supply SystemI just got my first refill ink bottles (100 ml each) for a total cost of NZ$52 and these will cover thousands and thousands of printed pages.. the only cost here, in the long run, is loss of the warranty cover on the printer (boo hoo, for the money I saved, I could buy a new printer). I receive daily updates from Drivethru rpg for any new dungeon tile, papercraft and printable terrain products, so I regularly add to my rather vast collection, there is some really great stuff on the market. Now that's something I want, - a continuous ink supply system I've just purchased a Photosmart 7660 series printer and if I'm going to continue with paper modelling in the manner to which I'd like to become accustomed messing about filling cartridges will be too much of a pain. You'll want to look up your printer and see if your cartridges will also need special chips and/or a chip resetter. Newer printers often have chips in the cartridges that estimate ink levels based on how long the cartridge has been installed in the machine. Once time's up, they won't work regardless of how much ink is actually in the cartridge. You may have to go online and buy special chips that don't expire and/or get a chip resetter in order to make things work. My printer uses HP #60 cartridges, and it will continue to work regardless of the "out of ink" errors it throws at me, but newer ones may not work at all when that happens.

I had chips included in the CCS system, installed them, they didn't work, but it turns out I didn't need them anyway.. the printer just gave me a plaintive series of messages.. "You have installed non standard ink cartridges.. are you sure you want to continue?".. YES... "You'll void your warrantee, are you really sure?"... YES... "You won't be getting any more rewards points if you continue, are you really sure?"... YES GO AWAY HP YOU BLOODSUCKERS... "Alright then, screw you, don't say we didn't warn you".
or something similar.

My CISS didn't come with any chips, but it's very easy to dupe a printer that uses HP #60s into thinking that it has new chips installed by playing with the power button. I haven't had to do it since installing the system, though. I just get a constant "Current ink levels are unavailable" message from the printer, which I completely ignore.
