I suffer from BBS... black base syndrome. I've got about 10 heroes and 30 monsters (all Bones) that are all painted, dipped, and dull-coated. They all have black bases. Since acquiring a big box of bones minis on eBay, and seeing some of the awesome bases featured here, I am thinking of evolving my mini techniques to include flocking the bases.
Is it too late for my first 40? Any downside to carefully brushing on a glue mixture and sinking the bases of finished minis into a box of flocking? Any suggestions for flocking a finished product?
Thanks!

You can always go back and flock any mini. It is never too late.

I normally flock mine after the mini is finished. My basing isn't great but its serviceable most of the time lol

I purchased some lime-green colored sand, coarse sand, mini-gravel, and some shredded green foam, for small foliage, all from Michael's. I paint on PVA/White Glue (adding a drop of dish soap to the glue bottle, and manually stirring it in, will help it to spread more evenly, instead of beading up), then I dunk the base into the lime-green sand, as my foundation layer -- let this dry for a few hours, at least. Then I dab on some more PVA, in spots, then apply the coarse tan-colored sand and/or the tan-colored gravel -- let harden (forms rough patches, as well as some decent-sized rocks, compared to the figure). If I want some greenery, to spice it up even further, I attach a few pieces of the shredded green foam amidst the sand and gravel. Once that is dry, I hit the whole base with Scenic Cement (small spray bottle), to lock/seal it all in place; alternatively, you could water down some PVA, and paint a sealing coat over it all, or use Mod Podge Matte, to do the same thing.
I don't have any photo's of my new basing techniques up on my blog yet, but I'll try to post some up tonight. It really transforms the figures, and their paint jobs, making the whole figure look so much better... Cheers!
