New forum member and recently returned (after 20+ years) table top gamer. Some friends and I decided to run Pathfinder ROTRL and I volunteered to be DM. Our first night I used a grid map and colored pens to create the Goblin attack on Sandpoint..... BORING! I went straight to YouTube and found DM Scotty and DMG and everything changed, STUFF GOT REAL! I've think I enjoy the craft more than the actual game, oops. Regardless, cruising this forum I've already come across great solutions to problems I encountered. Attached are a couple of photos of stuff I've made. Foam L shaped room + hallway, wooden door, statue and a few minis I pained including my flying mini demon. I'm always looking for suggestions and tips. Hopefully I've got this link thing working correctly. imgur.com/bMSWZcMimgur.com/JWL414j

Awesome! I can see why the crafting could be more enjoyable than the game with end results like that.

Love it. Know the feeling on the crafting being more fun than the game.

Very cool! Here is a similar technique Not similar..... Exact technique. This is the first video I watched and learned how to make my tiles. I kinda wish I had seen DM Scotty and DMG and gone with a poly 2.5 grid system. Instead I've just created a ton of different sized rooms and hallways and alter the map to fit the tiles I already have. In addition I use a couple of sets of Terraclips and cardboard creations inspired by DM Scotty and DMG. I've attached a picture of a few cavern tiles I created, this time using DM Scottys 2.5 and DMG's cavern technique. DMG likes a max of three layers whereas I like everything BIGGER and exaggerated. Instead of using the aluminum strip technique I use a full sheet of aluminum foil, crinkle it up, glue all sorts of scrap to the cardboard to make my pathway, spray 77 glue on the cardboard and crap, and then mold the foil into the shape that I want. "EDIT:" I forgot to mention that I play grid so after I finish painting I use a pencil and clear ruler and draw in a light crud onto the painted surface. Lastly, if any polystyrene users need a door solution I finally came up with one. I used DMG's door technique and then hot glued a pointed toothpick to one side of the door. I stick the toothpick down into my room tile and viola, doors that open, close and don't fall over.

Those cavern tiles are "OFF THE HOOK!" as the kids say these days...they look great. I got to get off my ass and make some cavern stuff.
