Created this base today after I saw how lame that fire tube looked without a good base...
so made from wood bits and Styrofoam and one spray paint can top
entrance into sewer, or underground
grate can be removed
insert light into base, then add fire tube thingie...
remove light and fire tube, install rig, different led light, balance DMScotty's cool floating artifact rendition, Drakkie style
I need to do something with the top of this thing without altering its center of gravity...hummmmmmmmmmm, any thoughts

Great looking piece that ladder is a great detail. Modularity can be so important especially if storage is an issue. As far as the top goes you could cut out and glue some light weight card (aka cardboard packaging cereal box etc).

Highly effective! I really like the whole set up and fine attention to detail. However, that sewer entrance does need one giant tentacle...

For your floating artifact thing (the blue and black one), one idea for the top is simple texture with hot glue, just lines like DMScotty's spell template for the necrotic magic. Just give it enough texture to hide the original shape and still not detract from the rest of the piece. Also nice stuff!

I agree with waynekarrion, something as simple as using a texture with hot glue would work well! Perhaps you could make the hot glue texture on wax paper, so it won't stick, then cut an opening in the top of your tube. After coloring your texture, you glue it to the top and where the top is open, it causes that section to glow!

Once again you come through with amazing work. Very inspiring!
For the top of the cylinder, you could cut some toothpicks and glue them around the edges, all leaning in toward the center, where they meet at a sphere/circle... sort of like the top of a round birdcage. It would add a lot of eye candy, without much weight.
