Once upon a time I ran out of Spray texture paint. I went looking through my crafting closet and found a can of black latex house paint. I cut the latex with water and added some sand . It painted up really nice and it had the indestructabilty that one would get for your house.I admit it was time consuming with the set up but it was soooo cheap. I suppose one could just buy any off color or mismatched color paints and so this also but then again if you wished to start with a black base you run into the problem of using up even more time. The finished product had a real stoney feel to it because of the sand. It drybrushed like a dream. Now I use it all the time!

Thanks for the inspiration. Non-sprayers unite!!!

I just use the spray texture to save time but many cheaper methods can be used. Like you say they just take a lot more time. Spraying them is super quick.

If you are doing nothing but looking forward to a relaxing night Then this method is cheaper and it saves the environment a little! Lol! It all comes down to time! I have one day a week that is planned strictly for crafting so I can during the week here and there prepare for my projects. I know many of us dont have the "extra" time but it can be done.
