Tin Foil rolls with Sculpey (body of snail), large pasta shells for the snail shell, acrylic paint and glue gun. The glossy look to the eyes was made using sharpie marker pen over the top of black acrylic paint. The saddles are made with cardboard covered in Green Stuff, which has some texture carved into it, painted and glued onto the shells (I went with a simple platform, as it was easier to use with existing character miniatures, the texture surface makes it easier to fix them in place with some blue tac or temporary adhesive putty) The paint scheme was just base coat of Burnt Umber, then Burnt Sienna, and highlights of Yellow Ochre for the snail body, the shell is Vermillion and Crimson Red with Lemon Yellow patterns. Built time was about 5 hours, over the course of a weekend (watching many episodes of Star Wars : The Clone Wars animated series)

Awesome!
*lol* I was thinking of using pasta shells for a beach tile, you beat me to the pasta punch!
Love the slime on them too, it's the little touches that add flair.

For what they are, they are excellent... I hate snails. Disgusting little slugs. Cheers!

I'm also making a couple more beasties specifically for the craft war entry (and the start of my new D&D Next campaign), but I'll post images as soon as they are done. Also, I really want to make a tutorial on how to make super simple, amazingly realistic looking eyes for larger monster miniatures.. maybe with a Roper as an example.

What a great idea, and the snails look awesome man
Wonder if they have a natural aversion to carrying salt bags? lol
