The woodland scenic stuff I have are both a clear thick liquid...pours about consistency of white glue...maybe a little thicker...have used it before and dries hard.

Any ideas on how to paint this? I have tried several times with less than sterling results. Am trying to make a small still overgrown pool with a statue centered in it, and am failing miserably. Am using water effects...tried painting and water effects over it...eh. Tried mixing paint in the water effects...again, eh...tried streaking paint in " hot glue" water...again, ugh. All looks very fake. Google keeps finding how to paint brackish water on canvas with oil paints, etc etc...way out of my league and not anywhere near what I want...

My "clay" is flour and salt based, made from an non toxic playdough recipe from a daycare, but once is dried in oven, painted and sealed it must no longer be palatable... I have never found bugs in it. Some pieces are 5-6 years old, and they just sit on open shelves in the upstairs game room.

Cute video!! And really nice idea...I found a bottle at work with bas-relief lizards on both sides of the neck. No label of course but I've been hoarding it for a build...wish I knew what it came from!

I used my coffee ground flock, and still wish it would have been finer! Might have to break down and buy some fine stuff unless someone knows how to make it finer ground, or something else to use?

Thanks! Will just keep browsing images till I find one I like them...thinking will go with crevices on the statues, top of pillars and dribbling down one side...from the bottom will be plant type overgrowth to help with the abandoned look...thanks again.

I've looked at a million images and it seems to be so random...so what looks more realistic...moss starting in crevices or moss starting in the top points and working downward? Seems to be no rhyme or reason to where it grows in the images that pop up on Google... Bought a little bag of dogs/ cats at dollar store and am turning the cats into statues on top of short gate pillars...want to look like starting to be mossy and overgrown but not overdone...they look too " clean" now with just light grey drybrush and dark shadowed in... Thanks!

I use a homemade playdough recipe (oil, water, salt, flour, tartar) often...as long as you don't try for very thin it works well. Bake as low oven goes for overnight, turning piece a couple times, paint and seal. Have some pieces that I made years ago that are still perfect condition. Hard to make and keep sharp corners though. Works great for stone slabs, stairs etc where an aged look is desired. Just don't drop them or its all over...
