Forgive me since I'm a noob with a glue gun... how did you pull off the foam effect?
As I mentioned over at reddit, I'm going to use this in my game. I have a player that is a huge beer connoisseur and I want to make him fight this.

I have a player that is a huge beer connoisseur and I want to make him fight this. Hopefully this helps; it's a rough sketch of how I did the build up: The "foam" effect is just paint. Once it was all done and dry, I did a base coat of raw sienna (if I remember correctly) then used ivory to dry brush the base bad body, ivory to paint the "head", and then dry brushed pure white over the ivory on the "head."

Thanks AJ. The ale it came from is a golden IPA. I'm hoping to use it in this Sunday's game session. I'll let you know if it survives!

Here he is! I had a hard time getting the lighting on him, and you can't see the bubbles and whatnot in the clear coat very well. The fluorescent lighting really causes problems when photographing the brownish yellow of this guy, and you can't see the subtle tan colors in the foam. I'll follow up if I can get better images and lighting at a later time, but I wanted to contribute my version of the Alemental.
He's made from aluminum foil, a little bit of pink foam for bulk inside, and about 3 sticks of hot glue. I'm really hoping he does not melt before I get him on the table. The fingers are toothpick stubs jammed into foam, and coated with some hot glue. For the foam, I put hot glue where I wanted it and then pressed him into sand. Once coated with modge podge, the sand fills in quite a bit, leaving you with a nice bubbly head. The colors that I used are all mixed from a few basics: The foam: - 4-5 parts white, 1 part brown, 1 part yellow
- Liberal dry-brushing with white. Just did not fill in all of the tan
The body: - 3 parts yellow, 1 part white, 1 part brown,
- 1 part black, 4 parts burnt umber, watered down heavily
- 3 parts orange, 1 part brown, 1 part white
- 3 parts yellow, 1 part brown, 3 parts white
- 1 part yellow, 1 part brown, 4-5 parts white
The Glossy coating: - Heavily apply Modge podge, about 1/16 to 1/32 of an inch with a sponge
- As you apply, stipple the modge podge vigorously to get air bubbles trapped in it. You can't really see it in the images, but it is really cool. I may try multiple thin coats if I do it again, and trap more bubbles in more coats.
Again, night lighting was not great with the images, but I'm fairly sure that when the cleric in the party who worships the god of brewing sees this abomination, he will be thoroughly engaged.
My only regret with this guy, is that I did not craft a keg for him to be exploding out of. That may be on the build list to support this encounter. Anyway, enjoy, and thanks for the inspiration!

This is so rad seeing that I inspired this many other beer elementals!! Have any of you guys used them on your players yet? My guys finally got to the dungeon level that I placed mine in, but haven't had the encounter yet; they should be fighting it this Saturday.

They destroyed it pretty quickly, and only one of them got a buzz from it (of course it was the Halfling thief). They loved the design and almost didn't want to attack it!

I say that if any monster deserved some DM fudging to keep it alive, this monster should get it. At least until the party is sufficiently drunk. Then it can die...

What made me think, "Hmmm...", is that the Conjure Elemental spell calls for a sufficient sized body of water to conjure the Elemental creature. While beer contains only a limited amount of water, it would be absolutely hilarious to let a PC conjure an Alemental. I won't be crafting such a monster, but I may use it in my game, nonetheless -- it has fantastic gag/humor value. Cheers!
