For miniatures, washes are awesome. They help give shadows bring out some details. They also can be used to tint or darken your model. The only thing I hated was paying 3-4 dollars for a paint pot that was half full of wash. Then I found the article on Dakka Dakka about home made washes. Since then I have been making my own washes using the recipes put out by Les from awesome paint job. I found them to be cost effective and superior to the citadel and reaper washes. I thought I would share. Recipes are here: www.awesomepaintjob.com/index.cfm/resources.recipes

Definite thanks and karme valas! The recipe for making good washes that are cheaper than the branded kind, but those sites for bottles and such are an excellent bonus!

That ink is excellent. I use it to ink my comics with either a brush or pen nib but that is another forum...

I use washes on all my minis. Washes are the ONLY thing I buy from that really expensive game store. I hate spending that much money though. A bottle or two of that stuff would last me years.

I had some Tandy All-in-One Stain and Finish on hand. Mixed it with water and then darkened it up with black acrylic paint. Worked pretty good on some cheap skeletons I used as some of my first painted minis. Turned out ok for me.

They r not to bad painted but some of them I have melted the arm angles after I cut them off to get different positions. Thanks for sharing
