Stroezie, if you look up Goblins in the 1977 AD&D Monster Manual, they have several different possible colors, depending upon their tribe: yellow, brick red, and I forget the other colors listed. Gygax was creative in his color selections. His description of Orcs skin/fur color is particularly difficult, as they seem to have multiple colors, which vary with the light angle, per his description. For them, I use a gray with a tint of green. Gygax stated that Hobgoblins have orange skin, with bright blue noses (certain males, forget the qualifying bit). I've painted up some Human heavy infantry figures as Hobgoblins, wearing bronze plate mail, as Gygax stated that from a distance, Humans would mistake them for allies coming to their rescue, then be dismayed when they got close enough and they realized their true nature. Gygax made some interesting color selections, which are a lot of fun to explore on miniatures (they don't sound as good, on paper, as they appear "in the flesh", so to speak).
I painted my Goblins using the brick red color -- love it! Personally, I will never use green, but that's my choice. I've been tempted to paint up groups in different colors (same figures), but then I would have different tribes -- both good, and bad. I like having a horde of Goblins, all from the same tribe, so all of my figures, some 160(?), will be the same brick red skin color. They look great massed on the tabletop, for BattleSystem games. YMMV. Cheers!

Slag, any chance you can post some pics of some of these paint jobs? I would love to see your skin tone for the goblins and the orcs especially. I've painted about a dozen of my orcs, so it may be too late to switch color schemes too dramatically, but I have a lot of goblins I haven't touched yet. I also like to think there are difference races (species, phenotype...i dunno) among each, which justifies me using vastly different models, like mantic orcs along side HQ's.
Anyway, thanks in advance and sorry if you've already shared these somewhere and if I just didn't see or forgot.

Thanks Sgt Slag! Those all look really cool. I may have to do some grey-ish orcs after all, and at least a few red goblins.

Here are some Pathfinder Reaper Bones Goblins. This is my first attempt at painting minis. I did not flock base, but wanted to concentrate on painting first. Seeing the pictures up close does reveal a lot of flaws I didn't catch while painting. Anyway, thought I would share some Goblins! here is the link to more pics: imgur.com/a/Qnsj4

Nice work, Zaric! Great attention to detail
Have you experimented with washes yet? They can really jazz up mini's, with little time, and little effort. Some folks love washes, some folks hate them. Do an Internet search on 'The Dip', and 'Magic Wash', for some information on the quickest, and the easiest wash techniques (your search results will feature before/after photo's, as well). If interested, take one figure, and use your preferred wash technique. If you hate it, you can always strip the figure and start it over. If you like it, then you can proceed with the rest of your painted figures. Cheers!
