Howdy crafters, Just playing around during lunch trying to create a red granite/marble look before I apply it wholesale to a set piece. Opinions welcome. Cheers, MM

Man, those all look good. I'd go with the one that was easiest to do -- the results are very good. I suspect D is the most difficult? Seems to have more veining...

Can you put some models next to it for scale?

They were all pretty easy, i just used the basic techniques from DMScotty. I based them in red then applied a darker red, brighter red, magenta, and white to various degrees for each one with the sponge technique. I think any of them would serve for the basic purpose but I was hoping to get more eyes on them because I stared at them too long and couldn't pick one to use on the piece I'm about to do.

I most prefer the color of number 2 and the veining of 4. That being said, I think they all came out looking really nice. :^)

I stand by what I previously said. My favorite color is number 2 and number 4 has my favorite veins. All great. Seriously. Please post the final project when it's complete.

based on these pics, drop no. 3. It looks good, in that there are granites like that, but it isn't as visually interesting. The other two look quite like marble. I would say the second looks less processed, (like the stone were not the choice cuts) so if your floors are in a palace or temple, do one, and if they are in a lower end structure, use two. just my opinion, of course. I have no doubt you will get others..
edited to add..
when I started this post, 4 in set two hadn't been posted. I like 4..

This is really awesome! My stone texture already looks very marbly anyhow, so to add variety and creativity I will have to write remember to use this technique sometime.

Number 4 sold me. It is the best IMHO.

C looks the best. Don't forget to vary the width of your veins, add curves, and join veins together on occasion.

Thanks for the opinions everyone (and the suggestions too slurpy.) I got me some sponging to do. :-)

I'm the oddball as usual.... I like the red and black of the first one, minus the white parts.....lol..... it's a really cool effect....

That's actually a very dark red and that idea came from looking at red marble pics on the Interwebz. I liked the look of the one with the dark marbling effect as well. Taking all the comments into account, I think kokigami hit the nail on the head: the one without the lighter marbling effect is the the least appealing visually. I think the other three are useable depending on whether one wants a lighter or darker effect. Thanks for your two bits. Cheers, MM

With the mini in frame I would definitely say 2.

Looking at the high resolution set, I think coloring is most realistic in number 1. At least red granite in my parts have more greyish/black dots, and less pink/purple tones than 2-4. All look great though

They do all look great, but if I had to choose 1, I'd say 4. I like the veining in it best!
