So just wondering... does anyone use one type over the other? I mean single vs double corrugated cardboard? Seems I have a ton of single corrugated due to the holidays. The pieces I have made though have been from double, and while it's my only comparison, is there truly an advantage to using one over the other?

I just started making these tiles, but the Double is definitely more durable and can be used to make cool things because you can cut down to the other layer. I'm sure you know DM Scotty has tons of vids on these. But I still us single for things like stairways. I have a couple dozen tiles made so far, but only base painted. Just got some acrylic paint and plan on doing a lot of painting new years day since I have it off

Understood. My problem is the lack of double corrugated board! I guess I could just go "buy" some boxes from the local packing store!?

I use whatever I can get my hands on...usually I buy the boxes from my local Walmart, they run about a buck and a half, unless I can get some free ....which is always better.... But I have found that any works well...

But I have found that any works well... I'm with monkeywithtacos. Use what you can find. I have no problem finding cardboard either. I go for exercise walks in the morning and cardboard is literally everywhere...double, single, card stock, you name it. Just keep your eyes open. I don't have any problem pulling over and loading up a large flat screen TV box if I need it (er...if the missus isn't in the car, otherwise I just dream of what I coulda' done with it .) Recycling day is crafting Nirvana! Cheers, MM

Drive behind a strip mall and you will find cardboard only dumpsters! Liquor stores are also a good spot. **They often have dry boxes ready for the taking inside the store, just as the clerks if you can have some. In a pinch you can always make your own two-ply by gluing two sheets together with a bit of inexpensive white glue.

I will give THE secret. If you are ready. Large furniture stores. Rooms to Go, City Furniture, El Dorado or any place that sells couches and such. Imagine 8x4 sheets of double wall cardboard.
I have not done search recently but when we needed to do whole sets for plays that is where we would go. If you have a design district (a strip mall with lots of furniture stores and so) you should find the mother load.

You can always glue two pieces of single ply together such that the corrugation of each layer runs perpendicular and you can make all the double ply you need from your supply of single ply.

The missus is growing tired of living in a cardboard jungle... Then the best solution is obviously a craft room, to get your stuff out of the way! ;D

I get huge sheets of single thickness cardboard from my job steel burial vaults have 8'x 7' sheet wrapped over them. But since that's not accessible to most people the furniture store idea is probably easiest way to get a lot quick.

Indeed furniture stores and bicycle shops have been a good source of quality cardboard.
