I am pretty new to this forum. I have been just viewing the techniques and reading over the way that others craft. I love everything I have seen so far. My monthly group meets to play a post-apoc game so I have been busy creating a torn down world of urban and rural chaos. This is the start of my board. An outhouse, a medium sized ruin, and a small portion of my sewer board. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedI also have a blog that you can see more of my terrain. Let me know what you all think - advice is definitely appreciated!

Nice work, everything looks great. The lightpost and the outhouse were especially impressive. The gray highlights on the wood really give it a nice aged look.

Yeah that outhouse is actually my favorite piece. My son helped design and put it together and put the base coat on. Here's a couple more pics. This was an idea I had for modular city blocks. I based them black, then coated them a lighter gray for concrete. The sand was just filtered sand from my driveway. I glued it on with tacky glue and then I based it in a darker beige than did a heavy dry brush with a very light colored tan. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedI have a question for anyone who may watch or reply to this thread. I am trying to create some ground clutter for post apoc scenery. I cannot for the life of me find any good demos for creating mattresses, not the whole bed just a plain bare mattress. Any help would be most appreciated.

Check out cake embosser from one of the bids. I saw a diamond one on Amazon that might fit the bill. Couple of sheets of that on some Styrofoam I think would look matressy.

maybe get an altoids tin, and cut off the bottom, making a cookie cutter. Then roll out some air dry clay and cut some mattresses out of it. just a thought.

Really great looking terrain! At present, nothing comes to mind for mattresses, but if I think of something, I'll let you know. kokigami's suggestion sounds good.

kokigami - hey thanks that sounds like it might just do the trick. I have been experimenting with cardboard and hot glue but can't seem to get a good pattern. air dry clay may be the answer. 1 question about the clay - after it dries, how does one make it permanently ''cured''

My experience with it is limited. I think it just drys and is pretty good, though you could probably seal it with PVA and H2O, or a standard sealant. I think it takes paint ok,
