Hello all, first post here, I want to show my efforts to make terrain trees for gaming. This is my very first attempt at wire and flock, horrid !!! After a few errors and mis-steps... I gave up and went w/ a tree kit from Hobby lobby for 20$. Much better results, but I will continue to refine my craft. Again this is my first post, I want to get the photos right. Feal free to whip out the harshest criticism , I can take it ( AC -10). So in this first EVER vid I took: the first tree is too dark, too big, not lifelike ect...Tree # 2 basicly the same as #1 but w/ a clay trunk, still too bid, fake looking, ect...Trees #3 and #4 were made by my wife using single strand wire and a lot of patience. The final piece shows 3 kit made trees that I made, looks ok, added some flock but can still be inproved. My next project will take trees and flocking and put them together in an outdoor scene. Wish me luck!

So I did alot of thought on how to make trees that I felt was natural. While many of the how to tutorials on making trees were good and extremely helpful in various techniques, I wasn't satisfied with the way they looked. My solution was to mish-mash alot of techniques into one. What I got was this: What I did was twist up a toilet paper roll (well in this case it was a paper towel roll...I made some trees much larger, as in this case. The one in the back is a TP roll). Then I got twigs from beneath a tree in the backyard (some were broken off brsnches for the bigger trees) and inserted them into the end I designated as the top. Generally I used 3 to 4 twigs for smaller trees, and about 7 for the bigger trees. Then I hot glued them into place after I determined the positioning I wanted. After ALOT of hot glue (texturing, keeping the tp rolls glued into their twisted position, gluing into a base, etc), I painted using a dark brown, gray, and light brown. Now, this leaves you with a dead looking tree. For leaves, I thread on aquarium foliage (there is a hole that attaches it to the sprue) onto dark green pipe cleaners, which I can twist around the branches. They look pretty cool with the foliage. If I have a chance I'll post a pic with the foliage on... Anyway, hope that helps

I actually like the ones you and your wife made more than the ones from the kit
