Michael's is running a 70% off sale on the Lemax Christmas village line. I went intending to buy some trees but they were wiped out. Did find a oerfect Wolf in Sheep's clothing though for $1.59: Will probably tweak it a bit but very happy with it as is.

So your character is just two squirrels in a human suit.

A wolf in sheep's clothing is an old monster from D&D. Its usually a highly intelligent aberration or alien depending on the setting. Its kind of like a mimic in that it resembles a seemingly innocent object but is really a threat. In the case of a Wolf in Sheep's clothing it resembles a stump and travels via root looking tentacles and uses psuedopods to capture prey, it also has eyes on some of the psuedopods to see with. Ecology wise they usually find a clearing in the woods and dig into the ground slightly. It will then start out by catching small prey like a squirrel. It then sucks the prey dry. Next it fills the prey's corpse with tentacles which puppet the prey's corpse in order to lure in bigger prey replacing the old corpse with the new kills corpse. Most often in artwork its depicted with a squirrel or rabbit corpse sitting on top of the stump. You can have them puppet a human corpse or monster's body to lure in players. For example send the players to meet a friendly hermit or druid in the woods. They find the human sitting on a stump waving to them. When they get close the monster springs from the ground and psuedopods start attacking the players. Similarly you can have them puppet a low level monsters corpse to fool the players into a tougher battle then they expected. Anyway heres the completed miniature: dmscraft.proboards.com/thread/532/wolf-sheeps-clothing

but then again i love all monsters from D&D.
PS: dont let those evil squirrel steal your soul nuts !

I had read about them on wikipedia, but your explanation makes them sound so much cooler Yeah the Wikipedia info is from 1st edition. The monsters been revamped since then. The version I was referencing is Pathfinder's version. They featured it in Mysfit Monsters Redeemed. In that book they went through a bunch of subpar D&D monsters and updated them. Book is great if you can find a copy. It makes a lot of old laughable monsters really good for campaigns. Like the Trapper, Lurker Above, and Executioners Hood all become different life stages of a creature called the Lurking Ray similar to a Darkmantles, Cloakers, and Ropers. The Adherer (Looks like a mumy covered in glue in first edition) becomes a race of tortured humanoids descended from humans that were taken by Phase Spiders to the ethereal plane for food eons ago. Flumphs become a noble space faring/plane scaping alien race that seek to help and warn planets of oncoming doom from another plane or outer space. Its a really great resource for gamemasters who want to throw monsters and npcs that most players have never encountered before. More info on it here: pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Misfit_Monsters_RedeemedI really recommend all of Paizo's Monsters Revisisted line. They make so many old school monsters fun to put into games and put new twists on monsters that spark tons of campaign ideas.

My take on the Wolf-in-sheep's-clothing. Made this a while ago when I got a stump from a HeroClix mini. I really need to get ambitious and put grass on this thing.

Aha! That's what was sitting in the background of the roper, along with the mimics!

indeed^^ the minimalistic feel come from the fact that i made a "classic" toothed mouth instead of the "vagina with teeth" one
