Here are some images of my newly finished Lizardmen Cavalry, for my Lizardmen Army: Link1, Link2, Link3, Link4, and Link5. Sorry, image insert not working for my Google photo's, hence the links.
Until now, all I had were Infantry, Short Bowmen, Blow Dart Archers, and one Greek Fire Thrower figure. They were very vulnerable to enemy cavalry charges. So, I looked around, and I found some Bearded Dragon Lizard toy figures, in the proper size. I took my Caesar 1/72 scale Lizardmen figures, cut the two-handed pole arm figures from their bases, and I glued them onto the Lizard toys. The lone Sword-wielding Lizard Rider, will serve as the Unit's Leader figure. I think they turned out pretty decent, for minimal effort (the Bearded Dragon Lizard toys came fully painted).
To mount the Lizardmen figures, I used E6000 glue, wrapping the soft plastic Lizardmen, atop the lizards, with painter's blue tape, twice. I had to have them pressed into position, while the glue dried, for several hours. Tried a clamp, but that failed. The tape worked surprisingly well, and it was very easy to apply, and to remove, hours later.
I believe the Lizardmen, themselves, are advanced enough, to control their primal desires for a "horrid feast," as Gygax described in the Lizardmen entry in his 1977 1e AD&D Monster Manual, but I am not convinced the Giant Lizard steeds can withstand their primal instincts -- I may have them make a Morale Check, or stop fighting to feast upon such tender morsels, as a fallen enemy's remains…
I am also considering upping the ante, a bit, by making the Giant Lizards, Fire Lizards, who gout fire, in melee, to make the Lizardmen even more dangerous… Oh, what evil deeds the mind explores, when it has the time to play. Cheers!
