I caved in and ordered an airbrush, oddly though most tutorials online are either concerned with asembling/cleaning or assumes that you know how to vitriol the darn thing to make gradients/fades etc..
Are there any basic exercises to get familiar with the gear?

Go to YouTube and do a search for "airbrush beginner exercise". Lots of useful tuts will pop with those keywords, including one for gradients.

The only trick to it is the right paint consistency. Should be thinned so that it is similar to whole milk. If you tip the gun back and forth the paint s surface should remain parallel because it is just thin enough to do so. From there, just pull the trigger!

Here's one I found, with some basic exercises. Not sure how old it is, but the quality is pretty good: Easy Practice Exercises Using An Airbrush

Hi There, Did the same search and found one of the most trusted and one of the best teachers in airbrushing. Google Search screenshot: ibb.co/mbmmfwFollow his tuts and you will have no issues at all. Starting with control of the airbrush is one of the most important things your need to learn. No matter what you are airbrushing, control is the first step. Enjoy your new adventure.
