I was browsing the forum awhile back and someone posted a link about painting terrain rocks by putting foam bits in a jar with paint, then shaking it up. I want to do this on some scrap pink foam I have left over, but I cant remember the exact technique for drying. I am worried the foam will dry all stuck together inside and be unusable. Anyone have a link for that tutorial or done something similar? Thanks in advance for any help.

Not in a jar, but there's a way to do something similar to the new Beasts of War rocks method.
Get upholstry foam or larger sponges, break it up by hand into the shapes you want for the hills. In a bucket, go for about half black paint and half water, mix it up well and drop the foam into it and use a piece of cardboard and a stick to crush the foam under the paint a few times with enough time between to let them expand back out and suck in the paint.
Leave them in the mix for a while after that, then pull it out and onto spread out newspaper, then crush it a few times with the cardboard and stick to remove as much of the extra liquid as you can. Let it dry for a couple days to be fully dry.
If you want to mount it on bases, do so now.
Then use whatever stone colors you want to work it out and use some watered down white glue for flocking patches.
The end result is terrain that can be compressed nearly flat for storage and transport and still expands back up to full size while looking quite good.

I'm not entirely sure, kind of doubt it though. It's more of the rubbery foam that looks a lot like a massive sponge. The ones I was involved in making were pieces pulled out of wrecked furniture

Hey sotf, you have the link to the rock tutorial? I went to BoW's site and did some searching for it but so far haven't been able to find it.

It's still there under, I believe compressible or pop-up rocks...unfortunately, while they had it open for anyone when they had their big thing of stuff from their backstage being free, they moved them back to backstage after that was over.

Thanks for the info sotf! A couple of their setup videos from their recent El-Alamin bootcamp show a variant of them, but I'm not sure which one though.
