I was inspired to combine some of the hot glue experience I've gained making my elementals with some plastic modeling/converting, and I remembered I might have some pieces that would be good to make this guy: It started out simple enough - just some bits from a Warhammer Fantasy Ogre Bull. I've made a few preliminary cuts. Then he got put together and had a couple bits of copper wire (with insulation - had some around that was almost white) sunk into the stumps of his legs. Then I added a few details with green stuff, twisted the two wires together to form an armature, and stuck him on a base. Then I added some hot glue to form a pillar of air he can stand on (too bad I can't make it dissolve into nothingness just above the base). The funnel is meant as a marker for his ability to summon a whirlwind (as per 5th Edition rules). It was made around a funnel of baking paper, dunked into cold water between applications of hot glue, and just built up a bit. After hardening, he got some brush on primer. And a bit of wash to help me see how he needs to be painted (blue because that's the color his skin should be - although I'll go for another shade of blue). Now he just needs a nice paint job, basing, and all that ;-)

nice job^^ the head gears is well done the guts area is a lil' too thin for my taste (it makes the boobs stand out too much imo) overall it's a solid conversion job, i look forward to see it fully painted^^

great job. never seen those ogres as djinn, but they fit perfectly! Excellent execution of a inspirational idea. The headdress came out great, and I like the huge belt buckle too. The hot glue work is very nice. Blending the legs with smoke/mist may be tricky.

Got a bit of painting done on this guy. A light blueish grey base on the pillar of air. And the first of a few (I'm going to do at least one more) dry brushings with white plus a bit of detailing work.

My Djinn also made progress since last post. I wanted to play around with glazes on this one, so I mixed up something for the skin. That was neither quite the color I was after or the smoothness I was trying for, so mixing up a different glaze and carefully applying it - I spent a little time preventing it from pooling too much and drawing it out to a smoother finish. After drying I'm even more happy with it - in person it has just a little hint of the skin colored layer underneath and appears just slightly warm (for a color based on blue anyway). Now if I can get his pants nice as well :-)

Just added a few more details to this guy. I'm still waiting for a bit of quiet undisturbed hobby time to tackle his pants - I think they need a nice blending down to the column of air :-)

I finally around to putting some color on this guys pants (real life and some other hobby stuff kept getting in the way - my son gave me a couple of the snap fit Space Marines for Warhammer 40K for my birthday - that led to "... I think I have some leftover Space Marines bits lying around...", which led to finding a bunch of Orks, which led to "... Hey lets scratch-build two extra Killa Kans to go with that old metal one that I rescued from a box of random stuff... and lets do a Trukk from half original parts and half cut-up sprue...", so now I've got ten marines and sixty-odd Ork models waiting for a date with some spray-paint - and let's not forget the one Ork that my boy wanted, which had to have its arms attached by magnets and have a chainsaw axe (which I had to convert from parts))... Anyways that's just me rambling... It's picture time :-) I decided that a mighty guy like him was just the type to have clothes in nice bright purple, so I carefully mixed my way up from the grey/blue to a purple I liked and then I tried to make the blending as smooth as possible and kinda look like his feet dissolve into the column of air. The base also got a bit of lighter and finer sand to make it look more desert-like. I think he looks the part now and some day I might just slip an old lamp into a pile of loot or something ;-)

Love it. That's another candidate for my to-do list. Now where are those ogre bitz...?

That is an inspired idea BEAUTIFULLY brought to life. VERY WELL DONE! It gives me a few ideas for other similar conversions...a Harem Guard spring to mind.
