Designed to be made in 4" x 2" sections, this can be expanded to cross almost any length chasm or fluid (water, lava, poison, slime, etc...). Takes about 10-15 popsicle sticks per section, and sections can be set up side-by-side to make wider crossings, also! *NOTE* I put no sides on these bridge sections, but they can be easily extrapolated into a Scotty-style rope-handle bridge or some such! Step 1: Create a base frame out of two 1" (or 2" if you want edge-edge coverage) popsicle stick sections and two 4" sections imgur.com/pNdgplUStep 2: Glue a single 2" stick section on each end imgur.com/q3xcgEiStep 3: Place the rest of the 2" cuts between the initial two singles, spaced slightly apart to compensate for the stick widths not totally adding up to a perfect 4", glue generously inside (Forgot to take picture) Step 4: Glue four 1" stick sections onto the bridge, under the 3rd section in from each end. I used popsicle stick cuts instead of craft matchsticks because I wanted it to be as simple, stable, and durable as possible while still being real-world believable: imgur.com/bwLW4SYimgur.com/SrUUUpCTwo of the sections free-standing: imgur.com/7fZmLj3Here are demonstrations of the bridge sections when put together: imgur.com/CdhdS8Qimgur.com/iQObke9Here's three of them with some hastily-constructed ramps: imgur.com/9jZHqG3My thought about these is that, in addition to being modular, you could create eddy current inserts / foundation mounds to drop under the bridge sections without custom-building an entire tile just for the single encounter / adventure.

What a great idea! Add some curves/corner pieces and you can built a whole port with piers, or a maze-like swamp village, or a goblin settlement, or, or or... I've just added another project to my to-do list.

I, too, was thinking these would make good docks!

Actually, you wouldn't have to make "corner" pieces, just butt the side of one up to the end of another... As far as docks or such, depending on how high or low the draft is for your ship models (how comparatively low they sit in the water / waterline height), you may just want to forego the legs of the bridge sections and simply make do with the box + slats part of the process.

Since you line the box-shaped support up with the ends of the section, you could also add rare earth magnets on the inside of each section end to help with alignment and stability. If you put two reasonably sized ones in each end and follow a fixed pattern (e.g. north in the left corner and south in the right - when looking end on at the piece) you should be able to make it so that everything fits together, no matter which way you turn it - except up-side down ;-)
