I was skeptical when I started watching this but your gears/sprockets are awesome!!!! Great idea to cast these small parts the way you did.

Nice Video! I could see using a lot of that material for a post apocalyptic game or Sci Fi terrain

yea , its actually surprising how different the little plastic brackets and stuff look when painted up or chopped up and used as filler for rubble/scrap piles .

Great video. I've done the same as far as taking computer equipment apart, but have never created molds. Something I will need to consider in the future. Great idea!

That's a very creative idea. Do you have anything that you've used them on that you can show?

for the sprokets andcogs ......not yet , play Shadows of Brimstone , but i didnt have them cast when i painted and based my targa guardians . now im saving them up while i'm in a holding pattern waiting to get a better video camera . i am transitioning from doing blog tutorials to trying to do video tutorials , so i have projects stacked up waiting for me to get the camera before i get them all going again .
i plan to use a large chunk on terrain as scrap piles or just debris , but will also use some for models . i dont know how familiar some of you guys are with the warhammer 40k games but i plan to scrap build some ork gargants and will use some of these to ad to the orky look .
also plan to do some necromunda terrain and will use some for that ........
i just have TOOOOOOOO many projects to do that these will add a nice extra detail to
for the rest of the bits , i gave my old stuff away over the years when i did spring cleaning for games i no longer played . but itgives me a chance to show all the other brackets and stuff being used when i do my tutorials .

Hey grandinquisitorkris, Since you were talking about scrap building some Ork vehicles, you might want to consider making one of these. www.irondogstudios.com/images/tater/mek_tater.htmlI've bought a Mr. Potatohead, to use for one of these for a diorama for my Necrons.

I always wanted to DM junk yard encounters, and making scrap piles & debris scatter terrain was in the middle and lower reaches on my to-do list ever since that list started. Sadly that project never made it to the top... but just this week I took apart an old fax machine, salvaged a motor, a speaker and an RGB light strip, plus lots of other interesting bits. I plan to take apart some more tech and make me a collection of gears & sprockets, then start. Seems like finally te olde junk yard is going to be made! Btw: pinterest is brimming with stunning junk robots and other scrap art. Just do a little search - but be careful, this pinning-stuff seems to be highly addictive. I can stop whenever I want of course. I just don't seem to want to stop, right now...

OH the IRONY ........... so i have been using a craptacular camera/video recorder . i only started recently trying the video on it because previously i had always just done photo blogs using the camera option . i've had it for probably 10 years . even though i NEED a new video camera so i can get going on the youtube channel tutorials i want to make , i cant afford one yet because of massive car repairs i need to get my car going again . i found a bundle at walmart for about $250 , but its $250 i dont have . so i was shooting some video for a posting . since i dont have fancy editing software i make short vids and splice them together on the youtube editor . got the first few segments done and the camera died ........ it will be the next electronicy item i pull apart to look for any bits i can use ......... but for the time being i am cameraless
