So, Here is a beholder I am currently sculpting from greenstuff. I can't afford the GF9 Eye Tyrant, and the rest seem too small. I was looking for a happy medium and came up with this. As always, thots, comments advice are welcome! Enjoy! I started out crafting the face out of greenstuff using a Hobbylobby wooden barrel as a base. Then, I drilled 10 holes into the wood at various angles, trying to get them evenly spaced. I glued the wires in with super glue and began to add greenstuff around them, all the while adding progressive layers of greenstuff to the body. The eyes on the stalks, are small beads. The central eye is a large glass bead. The next step will be to add progressive layers of greenstuff and round out the body and thicken the stalks at the base, while adding additional details. I look forward to seeing what people think.

Here are some updates. I widened the body and sculpted some features on it. Next is painting followed by mounting on a flying base. That looks like alot of fun cant wait to see it painted

Very cool sculpt, one of the best beholders I've seen on here imo.
My only point of critique, why the toothpicks for the teeth? Looks to me like your sculpting skills would be up to it and it seems like a missed oportunity to put even more charracter into it.
That being said I would still be proud to have a mini like that on my table ( it would be one huge sob in my 6mm universe though :-)

Great question. The short answer, I had cut a bunch of teeth for my purple worm and had a bunch left over and couldn't figure out what to do with them so I thought "hey....I'll make a beholder". I also have not had as much luck sculpting small things like that. Gives me something to try on the next beholder.

Black Bombed. Painting begins tonight. I think I am going to go for the reddish brown you see on the GF( eye tyrant. I think that looks really good. I'll continue to post WIP pics for anyone interested.

really nice job, i know the first image is without the painted pupils but its main eye being blinded like that would make for a really interesting beholder concept
edit1: so now i have a backstory for a beholder thanks for that, and i gotta learn to sculpt edit2: so in second edition of d&d there is a beholder that blinds it main eye to gain greater magic control of its lesser eyes (Beholder Mage)
