Haven't posted in a while, so I decided to post some pics. Here are some cavern tiles I started. Thanks to BLACK MAGIC CRAFT for this simple idea! Here are my first 22 tiles. Do I need more? Probably not. Am I going to make more? Yup! Do I have any more storage? Nope. Do I care? Nope. HAHAHA!
just drying now, will paint tonight or tmrw morning. I'll post pics. In the meantime go watch all of Black Magic's vids. (I'm sure you all have.).
UPDATE: Black Bombed and first coat of grey. Depending if I have to go back to work I will finish them tonight or tmrw. More pics to come.
UPDATE 2: highlighted with the light grey, unfortunately my 'dark' grey turned out not so dark and my tiles look like something to be used with Frostgrave. (which isn't terrible since I play FG, however I needed cavern tiles). Anyhoo I'm going to try and add some browns to the top and see what happens. If it looks dumb I will re-paint them. Here is what they look like now. Sorry for the crap photos again.
you can kind of see the brown (top of tile) in this pic .... I will do more sampling tmrw. I need to sleep before work.
On the sides there is more contrast than what you can see in the pic (but not much)
Doesn't show much in this pic except my Cleric's melting eye socket.....
EDIT 3......I'll do what I can to fix the main tile, but I thought what the hell may as well have some Ice/frozen caverns/rock faces as well.....Why not flip the tile over and paint it to look like ice/snow? Double use cavern/rock tiles?..... I just slapped on some light blue paint
to see if it could be done....I think yes! After I fix the main tiles I will figure out how to do an Ice/snow texture/paint job. OK I really need to sleep. Here are 2 pics to get the idea of snow/ice tile......must sleep....4.5 hours until work.....
okay final product!!!
I hope the camera picked up the subtle colour variation. (Original problem was the brand I used originally had a noticeable blue tinge. After switching to a different brand it really looked like rock. I just dry brushed over the other grey and it works.)
