I have been watching this kickstarter since it began. It ends this weekend and has been an amazing success. The $40 level gets you everything ever made for 1st editions plus all the 2nd edition and stretch goals in PDF. It really is a hell of a bargain for $40 I think. I have never played 7th Sea and I don't know that I want to learn a new system but I REALLY want to run a Piracy campaign in my D&D setting. I figured these books would be great for countless ideas.
Any thoughts from anyone that ever tried 7th Sea First Edition? To be honest, if it was good enough I would even be willing to try and get my party to try it out rather than convert. Someone sell me on it, it ends in 53 hours.
Btw, almost $1.1 Million for a RPG kickstarter with a $30,000 goal is probably enough to sell me as it is. People must have really liked it for it to be so successful. So anyone with experience with it?

I played it with my friends for a few sessions, until the GM had to move. We had a great time playing, the game played fast. It is also meant to be cinematic so the more dramatic your actions the better you were able to do something, you get extra dice awarded from the GM (if I remember correctly). There are no hit points but flesh wounds and dramatic wounds. For the price point I think it would be worth it for the ideas you could glean from it as you said.
