Moved over from old forums: dmscraft.freeforums.net/thread/929/mimicI recently watched DungeonMasterG's video on making Treasure chests and it inspired me to use his technique and create a mimic. Basically I built an open chest like he does in the video then took a dremel sanding bit and sanded out a brow on the lid of the chest and repeated the shape on the front side of the container to make a curved mouth shape. For teeth I used toothpick points. The tongue came from a Spider-man figure I picked up cheap at a yard sale. I just glued it into the chest. For drool I used 2 different techniques. I dabbed hot glue on the top of the lip and pulled it down to make some streamers. I then shook up a bottle of clear gloss and painted the bubbly foam at the top, onto the mouth and tongue thickly to capture the air bubbles so they dried onto the mini. Holy Crow! That tongue is so realistic looking with the saliva and bubbles *shivers* This is such a cool monster I love it!
