Since I enjoyed painting that Space Marine Terminator so much I asked my boyfriend if I could paint another one of his minis. Luckily he said yes And here he is (not my bf, I'm talking about the Space Marine ):

Fantastic painting once again. Your shading is spectacular on these miniatures. Makes me want to paint Space Marines, and I can't afford to be distracted. At least you haven't painted any genestealers yet.
Wait, what was that last line?

It's unreal how fast you've become an expert painter. Those space marines look like pro work. Incredible, thanks for sharing.
I think if you wanted to try your hand at commission work, you could just start by selling finished figures on ebay. There are sellers offering "pro painted" minis that don't look nearly as good yours. Might also hang up a flier on the game board if you have a flgs nearby.

It's really just been 1 1/2 months since I started painting.

I think Bloodchoke has the right idea. Rather then getting a commission and painting something you aren't interested in, painting up stuff that you like and selling it on E-Bay would be a great way to make some money, and get your name out there. A good starting piece would be one of those three man Space Marine box sets. Choose a known chapter, as that will sell better then your own creation. Another option might be some Reaper Bones figures. The figures don't cost a lot, so if they don't sell you're not out a lot of money. (I can't see this happening, but E-Bay is a weird place.) Not sure how available Reaper Bones are in your neck of the woods, which is why I mentioned the Space Marines first. A word of caution though. Making your hobby a career can ruin the enjoyment.

Even if I love the idea of making something like painting minis my career I am not actually going to do that. I just like to dream. I mean it would be awesome but sometimes we just have to stay real. ;-) I've got another career planned and that took already a lot of work and effort so I'm not going to stop that so easily. I rather keep it as my hobby and paint minis just for fun, be it for myself or friends or maybe some of you guys ;-)

Supplemental income can be beneficial. You could at least cover the cost of your own hobby. . . . or, just think: Alexis: "I'm leaving next week for my mini cruise." Coworker: "oh, you have a couple day cruise booked?" Alexis: "No. Its eight days, but all payed for by painting and selling minis!" We are not trying to push you into something you don't want to do. We are all just really impressed with your work, and want you to benefit from it since non of us can

These look great to me. If you're looking for ideas, I do have one recommendation. The blue of the body might be too similar to the purple of the arms and head. It would help to go with a more intense, primary color of blue, or maybe a less white highlight for the dry brush. I find that Warhammer 40K figures seem to look better with intense colors. Just initial thoughts. Please ignore if you don't agree.

The things that struck me most about your creations was the IMPRESSIVE improvement you've made in such a short time. You have an undeniable talent & an emerging flair for colors. All in all, VERY WELL DONE!

some people have natural talent. seems you are one of them. also, its not first time when you already had done expositions with other fabricated stuff before. might have been first time crafting dungeons stuff. but it definitely wasn'T your first time considering the bigger stuff you crafted for your library.

the only criticisims i would make is that when you do tech minis , they often have guns , which need more detailing or attention . the storm bolter needs holes in the end of its barrels painted in , and the flamer needs to be dooted up at the end to show its fire use . i am mostly a scifi gamer , and for my big walker weapons and flamer weapons , i crush up artist pastels into a powder , and i have a sponge brush (like women use for eye makeup applications) that i rub it on the ends of the barrel . it takes some practice , but when you get good at it it lets you blend from the dark black at the end to lighter soot as it gets farther from the barrels end , and lets the paint show through . and for the genestealers , the arms are traditionaly painted that the arms are armored in exoskeleton , with the sections of their skin peeking through the ribbed segments . as a 40exfan , it just seems off seeing the arms painted purple . i only bring this up because you seem to enjoy painting so much , but with scifi tabble top gamers little details like that add a BIG WOW factor and as any REAL table top gamer will tell you , the better the paintjob the better the army will play , its a FACT ! around here we call it "karmic paint schemes " you have talent , no doubt you could make a fortune painting minis ofr most of the local gamers who dont paint themselves .

I am just now seeing all this stuff. Oh my goodness. It's amazing and fun to see someone rise above us unwash masses and show something that has true talent and creativity. These are so much fun to look at, you almost don't want to use them.
My gf in college knew nothing about DND until me and my friends got her to play. She loved it and when she tried her hand at painting, we were all stunned at what she could do. Few people (myself definitely NOT included) can paint, craft, imagine like it's no effort at all. I feel bad for all my unpainted minis that have me to put up with. Their sacrifice will truly be great.

just now seeing this post, and i have to say that your painting skills are wicked awesome, and the bases on your practice ones came out great, finished bases really bring out the figure and it makes them feel completed.
