LINK FIXED I found this piece of cardboard (I think it held panels for a door). I have two of them. I wrote measurements on the piece and placed minis on it for scale. Any ideas of what it could be used for? I thought of ruined temple, a large trap/obstacle characters have to go through(just add the obstacles, a pit of some sort(filled with fluid, lava, acid, etc), a fighting pit any other suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance. Also this is my first forum post so I hope I have added the link correctly. Markd1733 another great idea to incorporate. imgur.com/a/6QALX

Some thoughts: - A long and narrow pool inside the central lowered area, surounded by an arcade of (partially ruined?) pasta pillars (see here, here and here for how to make them). Attack them with flying and spellcasting enemies, so the players can use the arcades for cover. - Texturize all areas with rock chips and construction sand, glue some small scraps of metal in to be able to use magnetized terrain elements (the advantage is that you need to craft magnetized elements only once and not for every singel piece you want them on). - Make the water murky, so the PC don't see what's elow the surface - hit them with surprice attacks and hit-and- run dive attacks. Oh, and btw: Welcome to the boards!

Ah yes, honeycomb cardboard. I have a couple of pieces of that too. I think it really only becomes useful when you would need to build up thickness. You could stack a few irregular shapes and cover with aluminum foil to make some hills or rock formations.
If you want to use the piece "as is", It could be a refection pool that has an underwater secret entrance to a dungeon/adventure location.

I like the pool idea.
You could also open up one long side and make it a backdrop for an altar, with statues up on the walls.
It could be a dungeon entrance, with a descending staircase at one end. The walls could be stone, partially covered with moss and other vegetation.

tauster I like you first thought about the encounter type and having the murky water. I love the idea about using some magnets. Curufin, spielmiester and beetlewing I would love to combine both of your ideas on the second piece. Thanks for all the tips. It will be a bit before I get to these pieces as I am super strapped for time. I'll try and post some pics of what I'm working on. Cheers for now.

You could make it into a staircase that leads into a dungeon AND a pool!
Paint you staircase in the center and then make a water layer that covers it up. Then, you could have the party find a way to activate a mechanism that drains the pool and opens up the secret passage hidden beneath its surface!

Modularity... make a tile that goes on the inside. lava, water, acid, pitch black hole, stairs. would make all possibilities availlable in one tile !

this actually inspired me to make a world of warcraft like forge with lava in the middle of a city in my campaign, and now i have to build this modular tile.

DnDPally; love the modular idea. no matter what I do with this piece I will make pieces for everything water, lava, acid, stairs etc. such as the PCs have to find the way to drain the water (acid or whatever) and then there is a staircase leading down. It sure does lend itself to many, many possibilities. And since I have two of them the possibilities are endless. I could even make both pieces as 'level one' and 'level two'. brain is now working overtime. voduchyld; I never thought about that. Thanks now I have to get two more pieces. Oooh I could join them end to end and make a kick a$$ feast hall......oh the madness......

It seems like if someone enters the pool or there some type of trap that cages or encloses them in. What if you put five pedestals in that middle section that act like tumblers in a key...you need a combination of weights to activate them and unlock whatever is underneath. Moreso, you could cause a forcecage trap to enclose them when they get it wrong the first time and then the entire cube begins to fill up with water or green slime, gelatenous cube, etc. Then it become a race against time with a puzzle that could cause come serious suspense.
