Hi people, i followed DMScotty tutorial on skins and how to simulate the fur. it was a nice tutorial, but unfortunately, i was all out of glue sticks for my gun.
So i searched a way to make fur without any glue guns ever used. and i actually found a method using only these...
Guess you already noticed how i did it right ?!!
so heres the steps...
1) Cut the pipe cleaners fur (mine are blacks so i dont have to coat them) into the small recipient you have. i use a cut down styrofoam gobelet.
2) Drop 2-3 drop of brown into the recipient. add 3-4 drop of water, not too much, i'll explain what it does if you do below. Mix it all till the right color comes out.
3) cut a piece of cardboard into desired shape.
4) pour onto the cardboard the flocking you just did and spread it around (1 pipe cleaner should be enough for 2 inch by 2 inch )
5) let it all dry up
6) Results !
very easy to do and it gives you a real feal for fur. real good texture there...
heres my results with a bit of explanation below it.
The left one had too much water into it. it ended up too pale. and it kinda flatened on the board because of it. so i tryed a bit less watered down paint. and i ended up with just the right amount. so the right one is superb. not only does it gives you the right texture it gives you the right coloring already and it seems that much real. its a bit more effort then using the glue gun. but its so much more worth it. and the pipe cleaners metal thing can still be used to create structures for other things so there is no real loss there. i'd also recommend adding 2-3 drop of white glue to the mix once you done your coloring. so that when it dries up, everything will be stuck together. cardboard and fur.
heres a close up of the brown one...
it's definitely a great way to do this without any glue gun involved !
so what do you think ?
