Hey guys! I'm looking for an easy and fast way to make a lot of different sized mushrooms. I've tried thedmg's hot glue method, but it takes a while and I'm not that patient. Also I want to make ones much bigger than that as well, which takes a long time and a lot of glue. What techniques have you guys done to make mushrooms?

What techniques have you guys done to make mushrooms? 2 ideas: sculpey or model magic would work great... Or you could use small woodsies or cardboard/foil, then build up some glue on that. With cardboard and/or aluminum foil you could make a cone for the cap and a tube for the stem.

yeah, I would probably say go with the craft clay for the best results with least amount of time invested.

There was a post on the Facebook page a while back were someone (sorry, I cant remember who) used wooden pegs and wooden buttons (the kind you use to hide screw holes) to amazing effect. Basically, all you had to do was arrange them and paint.

1. Mix flour, salt and water into a firm dough, shape your mushroom caps in a variety of forms and sizes, add holes, distressing, frayed edges and such as desired.. sit in the sun to dry out. 2. Find a bunch of sticks and old pencil stubs, expired pens, etc.. and use cut up hot glue sticks for the mushroom stalks. 3. Use your hot glue gun to stick them together and add any surface features and textures you want. 4. Apply to your base. 5. Paint.

I would seriously check out Tauster's stuff - there is a reason his avatar is a mushroom Thanks for the praise (not sure it was meant as that, though... ) I hadn't made shrooms and funghi for some time, so when I was shopping earlier today, I got some new crafting pasta. And I found another way of making mushrooms out of something that I have thrown away all my life so far... dmscraft.proboards.com/post/22230/thread

One easy thing that can work well that still goes back to hot glue is to take some of the heavy stirrer straws, cut to height and attach to the base you want to use. Then take cardstock, and pretty much cut it like the roofs Scotty uses for the huts in his video except smaller and crush down the top so that you get the dome rather than a peak. Use your hot glue to give the stem the right shape and the same for the top, then hook them together with a bit of glue as well.
The end results look good and paint up easily, and can be done in multiple sizes.
