I have a custom "monster" in my gaming world that is an animated dust devil. The miniatures I use look similar to this, although they are made of sculpey clay over wire. Nice job.

Should have mentioned that after twisting the paper and shaping it's about twice the size of a pc mini, making it 'large'. I'll get a pic next to another mini for scale once I get back home.

This sure seems like an easier method than what I did - layers of diminishing circles of hot glue. Yours looks good!

That's a really nice looking elemental. Probably would work well for spell effect templates as well.

Great design! I saw your posting yesterday, but when I re-read your description today, I finally understood how you made them - by forming a funnel with the paper, right? You gave me the final push I needed to get on with my own air elementals/dust devils/tornados - thanks! I'll probably try your method to have a comparison between your and my way. Can't wait to see them side by side.

Can't wait to see them side by side. Yep just twisted it into a funnel and left the top larger. I also added a little hot glue to the bottom and in the inside of the top before applying the pva glue. I also repeated the pva step twice, to strengthen it up. Also I love your elementals...and will be stealing some ideas for another project lol.

Fantastic! In my games, I try to have three sizes of Elementals: 8 HD, 16 HD, and 24HD. I plan to represent them by increasing the sizes, and this just made the Air Elementals super-easy to make, and use. Thank you! I've been working on a 24HD Fire Elemental, based on DM Scotty's fire technique using clear plastic as a base then applying Hot Glue to it, and painting. Nearly done with that critter, so this is perfect timing. Cheers!
