I have need of lotus flowers, and not just for myout of character dark arcane requirements.....
anyone ever made flowers? They would be of a similar height to a person, probably taller. Ease in making different colours would be useful.

Sure, I took a black border black lotus and cut around the shape, then pasted it to a tongue depressor. No muss, no fuss

Ease in making different colours would be useful. Person as in an actual person, or person as in a miniature? if 5-6' tall is required, look into paper mâché. You could also make wire armatures in the shape of the petals, and stretch fabric over them, after painting the wire the same color as the fabric.

Only the size of a figure! My wife may object if I start decorating the house with an Hyborian Age theme...

If you want them gaming miniature scale check out Hobby Lobby/Michaels/local craft chain store's bead aisle. YOu can usually find several different kinds of flower shaped beads. Google "Lucite Flower Beads" for examples of what you can find. Also this site has samples of some with a ruler to show the scale. beadinspirations.com/beads-stones-pendants-lucite-beads-c-104_570.htmlYou could probably make a decent black lotus out of the 2 black flower beads. Stack a 10 mm bead atop a 21 mm bead. Edit: Also google "Acryllic rose Beads" for other types of beads. Found some decent 24mm rose beads that could double as Black lotuses doing that search. www.dhgate.com/wholesale/acrylic+rose+flower+beads.html They appear to have the leaves of the flower sculpted on the underside and the petals on the top side with 1 hole on the bottom that a makeshift stem could be attached to. Should be easy to repaint and make the lotus from it.

Only the size of a figure! My wife may object if I start decorating the house with an Hyborian Age theme... Ok, that's a little different, haha. Sorry, haven't slept much in the last few days. Probably the easiest way to make them from scratch would be to cut multi-pointed star shapes out of paper, in 3 or 4 different sizes. Curl the petals up, then glue them in a stack, going largest, medium, smallest. Using properly colored paper eliminates having to paint them. You could also make a strip with all the petals on one side and roll it up, but this would be finicky at small scale. You'd also probably have to make the petals small at one end of the strip (which would be the center), and make them get gradually bigger at the other end of the strip (the outside petals).
