A simple thing I made from an allergy pill bottle. I punched some holes in it for visual interest and ringed it with a little cardboard (with one side torn off.) Then I drybrushed it. I'm using sticky tac to hold it to the back of the spider.

That is great. Definitely decorate the spider with cloth, beads, and jewels like they do the Elephants. That would look amazing.
This also sparked some inspiration. I have to make a spider pulled chariot for my drow army now.

Very cool, but I'd suggest moving it to the middle body part, as it is more stable. I've seen spiders move the back part up/down. The legs are all attached to the mid-section, which would make it more stable all around. Looks incredible, by the way. Cheers!

Have you considered weaving the beads around the legs like a gem-encrusted harness? have 2 strands come up to the howdah as reins? I'm thinking a 'God's Eye' made from tie-wire woven around a tie-wire base would look great for a howdah too. Actually, why don't we have a competition for our 'spider mounts?

I really like the beads, but I'm going to stick my fleshy neck out, in front of the spider's fangs, and suggest keeping the bead strings short, with the old adage of, "less is more"? Whatever you decide, it is an awesome piece, truly fit for a High Priestess of Lolth................................. (Sorry, had a shivers attack while typing on the keyboard.) Love the red pipe cleaner, by the way, as well as the greenish beads -- nice touches. They definitely take it up a couple of notches! The way the spider is molded, the back body portion is raised up, which lifts the Priestess up -- it actually works for the whole piece. Good decision on moving it back. Cheers!

I'm going to quit now. I've been tinkering with this piece for hours -- time to actually prep for the game.
