My Cardboard City: Willborough
Hey, and I'm (trying) making a cardboard city. The thing is - I don't know how to make it good! So, please help and send your videos to me so I can build my cardboard city.
And what is all this "gridless" and "RPG Games" - I know what 'RPG' means, but the hell? Has DMScotty made an RPG game?

Many modern RPGs use a gridded mat that means to play like the rules say you need to put grids on everything you craft. I just use measuring sticks instead of grids so I don't have to put grids on everything. make sure to start watching all my vids. I answer many questions about crafting and gridless.

Ok, I understand that, but can you make some videos on HOW to make cardboard, modern cities? Like maybe a car dealership, modern house, church?
PS: Where can I get the cool texture you use, by the way I'm English so I can't go to places like Wal-Mart.

Don't worry, Wal-Mart is coming to you (be afraid). Modern buildings are essentially made of blocks, they have a lot more windows than ancient buildings and comparatively thin walls. The main difference has been the car.. roads rule city design and layout these days, the farms and livestock are all outside of the city limits and we have things like subways and overpasses.. however, concrete has been in use since the Roman days, and a roman villa was not that different from a modern ranch estate. You can adapt a lot of medieval building designs to modern neighborhoods, a warehouse has always looked pretty much the same, they just have forklift bays instead of stables now. For a large apartment or office complex, you can either represent it with a box, or find some layout designs online, print them out and work with those.. an office block or apartment is an amazingly utilitarian structure, once you do one, you have done them all.. there may be different tweaks to penthouse suites and foyers, but one office is much like the next. Here is a little resource I found quite handy for running Supers games.. Artists sketch Floorplans of TV show places.

I think I'll do medieval, because then I can get the most help from DMScotty's videos.

If you're doing modern cityscapes, you may also want to look at Train scenic miniatures for inspiration and ideas. As you can see, these guys get pretty deep into their hobby

We do have Walmart here in the UK, its ASDA! (walmart own it!) I have a big list of various types of free paper kit buildings on my site if it helps (various sizes and genres) I use primarily free stuff in my games to create modern cities (like this pic, everything scenic wise was found free on the net) There's plenty of modern stuff in there, not sure if your looking for 28's exclusively, but they are in there, just have a good root around in them: Grinning Skull Gaming Resources lists
I do have some decent modern building paper kits in 15mm scale made by a friend of mine if that helps? i use them for my modern & zombie games, If you want them PM me with your details and I'll email them to you!
