Now, DM Scotty can probably just find 100 crystals for $1 at the "dollar shop", but pickings are a bit slimmer in New Zealand. I used the hot-glue-on-pipe-cleaner method (which is exactly what it sounds like) that I've seen people make trees with to make some okay-looking dragonshards. This batch is rather epic-sized, but that's fine with me. You could make them any size or colour. The only paint I used (apart from on the base) was around the glue at the base where there were no pipe cleaners. I call them dragonshards because I use the Eberron setting for D&D, but they could be anything crystalline - weird extraplanar forests, eldritch machine components, you get the gist. Dragonshards

I like it. I think I'm going to start experimenting with "Hot-Glue-On-X". Pipe cleaners, toothpicks, paper clips...
