Right-o, the children have gone to bed so I can put up my build log for my July world of craftwar entry, Perechelechon's Howe. first of all I played around with the size I wanted for the royal barrow. Then it was a case of building the inside crypt level, the stone circle obelisks and starting to hot glue the wooden beads for the corner pillars. The entire idea of any painting in this project was first of all to paint how it would look in the normal light of the surface, then add a series of blue washes for the underwater effect. The inside of the crypt would only receive a little blue under the entrance where the faint light crept in. I then cut out the base for the royal tomb and arranged the pieces. None of the trees, obelisks or the crypt itself will be glued down so I can use them in other situations. The barrows were each built of four real stones, arranged into three 'legs' and a capstone. I then built up the mound with toilet paper soaked in water and pva. This took a long time to dry! Painting proceeded doing a stone effect with a sponge. The mounds were covered in sand, painted dark brown and gradually drybrushed up. The dancing light effects were painted on and then blue washes added. Sadly these do not show up so well. Then I just glued in some bits of seaweed - aquarium plants I've had lying around for a while. Please check out the completed project and the other entrants in the world of craftwar section.

Just built a prototype 2.5d rooftop for a chase scene. I do have some 3d buildings but the roofs are too steep for minis. The peak of the roof is about a centimetre and there is a shallow drop to the edges. i was going to make six of these but they are a bit labour intensive so I'll probably stick with just three. Chimney still to Have you thought about doing the shingles in strips instead of doing every single one separately? I guess it would be less time consuming.

I suppose not technically the right place, but seeing as Scotty gave me the inspiration... my children have a wooden train set, and broke the roof of their engine shed. Using some cardboard and a glue gun my daughter and I set to work on a replacement. Step one was cutting out the two halves of the roof. I decided to make a corrugated metal one as I had this cardboard lying around. I glued if to a piece of card for extra strength. I hot glued the underside to add some support. Test fitting: Finishing off: I've sorayed it with silver spray, and will add black and brown washes to it for effect. If won't last long, but hey, it fording have to. Easy to replace and it's getting my little girl into crafting. and there we have it. A gaming related post. Of a sort...

Been making my first 2.5d dungeon, and it's coming along nicely! it's going to be for a friend's dungeon hack war game which will be published soon called Trapdoor. Made de it from some cork I had lying around. Finishing the tiles over the weekend then I'll start on the doors.

rather than cut out each individual one , i cut strips , then made cuts to seperate them , but not all the way across , so that each of my shingles is actually 3-4 shingles wide it makes it MUCH faster and eaasier than doingthem each seperate . here is a link to my cottage tutorial blog , just scroll downto the pics of the shingles if you want to see what i mean . www.boardgamegeek.com/blogpost/2965/cottages

There's actually a very similar sculpt available for free if you have a 3D printer that's been mass produced in a few sizes for years now...I've gotten a few because several Ren. Faires tend to have them in shops as cheap stuff to buy.
