started with a skeleton fig, about double-scale too large for heroic scale Necro'd and re-assembled in a slime-monster pose (saved the axes for future use, perhaps in weapon racks?) Applied liberal amounts of hot-glue....tried to stretch it out in spots, glob it on in others. Left some of the rib cage showing, as well as the eye sockets...no use in having to add those kinds of details later. Painting next. I have heard the advice to not use solid paints, but washes instead. Wish me luck! <rolls d20......>

I already know what i wish i would have done, and will add on the next craft session i have. I should have globbed some on around his mouth, and used a pin or something to give him a gaping maw of sorts. He is supposed to be pissed at the players, after all.
Re-applying the black wash shouldnt be difficult at all, especially in just one tiny spot.

This is genius, and it looks absolutely great! Covering up a miniature with painted hotglue - whyever haven't I had this idea?!?

Thanks, guys...for the confidence boost. I might work on this guy a little more tonight. Depends on how bad my hands hurt...long day of internet marketing followed by refinishing chairs.....my fingers might be stuck in either the "hammering out files in ms excel" pose or the "gripping steel wool and sandpaper" pose for a few days....retaining wall tomorrow....wish it was as easy as poly foam.
<sigh>
....just keep up the mantra....resale value...resale value...resale value....
Eventually this work will get me to the point that I can game and craft every weekend!!

Done and done. I like the way it turned out, though i already know ways it could have been improved (curses and hexes be upon you, dmscraft.proboards.com/thread/800/creators-curse). 1) i should have left more ribs exposed on the skeleton. you can't see them hidden under the folds of slime and blubber. 2) I should have washed more, brushed less. 3) I should have planned the mouth ahead of time. After the black wash, it got a dark grey dry brush to hit the high, "veiny" spots. I used a drill bit on a large lump of hot glue for the mouth, and it left really cool, torn & jagged hot glue bits in its mouth. Unfortunately my camera might not be high res enough to make that out. Also, i took the same red from the eyes and mouth and very lightly drybrushed over the dark grey to add some more flavor. so yeah...necro'd toy skeleton becomes recurring villain in the dwarf war campaigns.

Great idea. I'm totally stealing this. I just bought a pack of the very same skeletons for use as Bone Devils (perfect scale for that). I have plenty of extras so I'm going to slime at least one. Thanks!
