Ever wanted a world map with wet erase capability, that is large enough to cover your entire gaming table, and durable enough to last for years? With enough image quality to faithfully present a full colour map with print quality detail? Well, here is the link for you! Banners on the CheapOriginal blogged article. Posted by Labyrinthian on 3rd August. The cool thing is you can order a 8 ft x 4 ft banner, with all sorts of different JPEG images printed on it, so you can cut a whole heap of map sheets from the one huge banner, or make a terrain sheet that covers an entire dining table. Since you upload the images to make your custom banner, and the process is very simple, you can make exactly what you need within a few minutes, then order it and simply wait for it to arrive in the mail.

Back in the 90's, a fellow took a wall paper world map (around $80 back then), which he picked up on clearance, for around $8(!), and ran a ginormous Risk(R) game with it. He then trashed it, because he paid so very little... I've always wanted to do a giant Risk(R) game, ever since. This makes it feasible. I have a Ping Pong Table, for gaming, 9' x 5'. This would make it all feasible. Michael's has loads of wooden pieces, which I could paint up for army tokens... It's all coming together.
I also have a city map which is my home base for the campaign. To have a 3' x 5' map of this city would be awesome to game with. At the prices posted, this is absolutely affordable. I have a world map, hand drawn, but I've made some effort to re-create it on the PC, so this may just encourage me to finish the re-creation project. Thanks for sharing!!! Cheers!

Thanks for this link! You are now going to cause me to update my campaign maps and spend a bunch of money having them printed. On second thought, I'm reevaluating the thank you part.
Those banners are much cheaper than I would have expected. Great find!

I want it for a wall hanging in the game room, or reference. Now I have to tag the rest of my custom map I started some 20 years ago. I won't be to bad I have CC3 suit, and Photoshop, and its already done digital. Its size is 79.9 inches, X 79.9 inches a very large high resolution file of an image 5720x5720 pixels 194.1 Mb.

I've used 'em twice now. Awesome quality for how cheap they are. And since they're in TX and I'm in OK, the shipping is wicked fast.

Just for price comparison the plain all chessex 3x4 mat runs like 40 bucks this mean for less than a plain grid you could have a full color larger mat with far more detail.

those who have done this. What kind of image resolution did you use, dimensions and dpi and were you happy with the results. I know these printers are geared for things that will be viewed from a distance, and resolution concerns are different. I have a friend wnting a star field for spaceship wargames, and I have a couple projects I am thinking on..

According to the writer of the blog article..
I am also quite keen to see how these maps work out (before I spend a fair bit more on shipping to New Zealand)

quick shot with my phone. I am happy with it. It is ok, I will say its a little grainy and the smaller font which is readable on the compressed raw image, of 266.4 MB 16 million colors reduced to 19.7 MG 256 color. Banner image was 3609x 3384 256 color. 19.7 MB. is readable, but no so on this banner, came out way to pixelated. The larger font for the Oceans 36 font and World name 72 font are readable. The smaller fonts are 14 & 12 cannot be read. If I had it to do again, I would make the standard font 36 or more and the largest text 72 - 128 font. I just wanted to see my world hanging on the wall. I can do that!
Note I will try to get a few better pics for you peeps. You can see the individual hex's however.
