Ok being a haunter we use a product on props and costumes to create the look of wet blood that is basically a two part resin called perma blood at 50 buck a gallon is not feasible for miniature work but this version is. Here is a test splatter I put on a paint towel and let dry It's a rich deep red and translucent and drys with a glossy wet sheen. It's made of Elmer's clear school glue and red and blue food coloring. For one 5 oz bottle add 5 drops red and one drop of blue. Shake very well it's glue so shaking may take a while. Perfect to add to props in the dungeon or miniatures after they are sealed.

And secrets of blood coloring blood is never true red, it actually turns dark brown to black as it gets old. So that's the reason for the blue to darken it a bit, some make up artists will use green instead but that's a personal choice. Play with it and decide what your preference is.

Neato!
Didn't know the haunted house craze was big enough of a trend that you get your own, super cool, custom title for building them. In our current global Zombie Renaissance you must be seeing an upsurge in off season work?

I ended up going with 15 drops red and 3 drops blue for the five once bottle. I like the color effects when it dries. Thanks for the tip dmj!

I've been experimenting with this technique. It does dry with a nice translucence and a nice color. However, if applied thickly, it takes days to dry and has quite a bit of shrinkage. I think I will stick for a tinted resin for any thick projects... i.e. rivers or pools and use the glue for splatters or a top coat.
