This is an old technique, nothing new. Just thought I'd share it, as it might be forgotten. I bought a number of the old, Grenadier Dwarf figures, many years ago. I am finally getting them painted. I decided to dress them up a bit, by adding some decorative thumb tacks I found at Michael's Craft Store. I also dressed up some toy Giant Skeletons with them, along with some 54mm Viking toy figures in my paint queue. I hope that my players will recognize that the Giant Skeletons, and the Frost Giants, are using Dwarven Medium Shields, as Bucklers! "Those are Dwarven shields they're using... Grrrr!!!" Here are some images: Decorative Tacks; Dwarven X-bowman, with Shield strapped to his back; Giant Skeletons & an unfinished Frost Giant. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to grip the head, and then bend the sharp shaft, back and forth, until it broke off. The round heads were glued into position using E6000 Glue. I like the aged bronze appearance of the shields, as they come out of the package, so I plan on leaving them, as they are. They can, however, be painted, if desired. Cheers!
