I've posted a couple of individual threads here about projects I've worked on (like this and this), but the trend seems to be to create one thread and document projects under that, so I'm starting this one to do so.
My most recent finished project: a caulk-and-fabric ocean battle mat. I still lack scatter items and a nice ship to put on it, but it's a start

Very cool start!
I ran a coastal/maritime campaign a year or so ago (Coastal Crafts!!!) and everyone had fun, especially if anyone was tossed overboard, monster attack! I love rolling up these mats!

I had a lot of paint+caulk mix leftover from the battle mat so I tried some experiments. Tolerable home-made Green Slime minis and a big blue mess on my garage floor resulted.

I've been wanting to up my mini basing game, so I've 3d printed some texture rollers and experimented with some cheap materials to roll the textures onto.

Nice work! If you are not using a release agent, on your texture rollers, try using Armor All spray. It is what is recommended for use with texturing polyforma clays. Just spray it on the clay, then roll the texture onto it -- the roller will not stick, at all. It is easy to just rinse off, with water, in the sink. It does not affect polyforma clays, so I doubt it will affect your two-part epoxies, either. Cheers!

A 3D printed Black Dragon mini didn't quite seem to want to print without some flaws in the wings, but I ended up painting it anyway. I have mixed feelings about how the paint job on it turned out (i.e. it's good for having been painted by me, but that only goes so far )... but really liking how the swampy base turned out.

Beautiful work! The classic AD&D Black Dragon is my favorite. Really nice job of incorporating the base into the model's pose. Fantastic work, all around. Cheers!

I ran an ancient, huge, Black Dragon in my 1e AD&D game, back in 1989. Its lair was underwater, beneath a hollow volcanic cone of rock. The PC's showed up, expecting it to be on the surface... On their second visit to the Dragon's lair, they came prepared with essentially pipe bombs: metal tubes, with screw caps on the ends, filled with oil. They cast Heat Metal on them before they dropped them into the water... Upon heating up, they burst (not really exploding), deafening the beast, which was resting in the water!
It erupted into the air, some distance away, flying high, then performing a dive-bomb run against them, perched atop the volcanic cone's rim, high up. The PC's had fashioned special bamboo arrows: scored along the length of the shaft, to weaken them for rupturing upon impact on any hard surface; hollowed out, filled with powdered Lye (used for centuries, to make soap... very available in medieval times, made by pouring water through wood fire ashes). Since the Dragon's breath weapon is acid, and acid mixed with a base (lye), creates salt, I ruled that the lye would react, very badly, with the body of the Black Dragon... Their arrows were aimed at his head, as he approached. They got a Natural 20, and very high numbers on all of their other To Hit rolls. The beast was dead before he flew into them on their narrow perch, killing two of the PC's upon impact. I've never played with a Black Dragon since. With Lye, a very strong chemical base, readily available, and bamboo arrows too simple to make, and to justify as a common component in making arrows in the tropical environment where the Dragon lived... It just seems like killing a Black Dragon is too easy with such a long-range weapon: could easily be adapted to making X-bow bolts, as well as long bow arrows... With 20-40 men, armed with Heavy Crossbows, and Lye bolts, it would be fairly easy to kill a Black Dragon of any age or size, with a cloud of lye bolts flying at it.
I ruled they just had to hit it externally, they did not need to penetrate its hide, so it had an AC of 10, not the -1, it should have had due to the hardness of its scales. Maybe a give-away, but it seemed too logical, and too simple. YMMV. Cheers!

I've been meaning to do the BMC Xmas pine trees to gaming terrain conversion for a while now, and with the holiday season coming the trees are available again, so over the last couple of weeks I built myself a pine forest. Ended up differing my materials and techniques a bit, but it worked out well overall.

Lots of projects in progress all at once, but I did manage to get some minis painted. Rather proud of these because not too long ago I would have thought them far beyond my skills. I think they need some more matte varnish, though, to mute some of the shine on their skin.

I suppose a slightly more matte finish might be more realistic, but I like the shiny. Nice job on the details! And I love the birch bracts as autumn leaves =)

Catching up on some old material I kind of forgot to post over the summer. My first attempt at making flocking material from sawdust and craft paint:

I made a big pile of assorted potion props because my players are terrible at keeping track of who's carrying what and which ones have been used. Soon they'll be given actual physical bottles which will be put back into my box once used, or if at the end of a session they have potions that haven't been placed in some character's pack
