Howdy, This is one of the models that lack a painted example on their website... Should they clean up their act?, Kev!

I bet she has the best remedy for getting those damn spots of blood out of clothing, from all the adventurers coming through the Inn!

instead of making a ton of individual threads of dif. figs , have you thought of doing ONE thread with all of the figs ? it would make it easier to keep up with without posting a ton of threads to open up to see your work .

Yeah, I will NOT be doing that. As much as I love some of the work here. I hate opening up a huge thread, that may have a TON of images all trying to load at once(killing the memory and performance of my system), then scroll scroll scroll all the way to the bottom to see the latest content. I'm sorry you find it difficult to keep up. I have not been posting much content lately. Mostly just the monthly paint contest. I want to let some people know I do appreciate their contributions in this forum. Draklith, erho, guppy, The Brave I hope you guys keep painting... Sam, sgtslag, skunkape, matakishi keep on inspiring others... deafnala, tauster, curufin keep on with the amazing content! To the many new, and veteran members I did not mention, Keep the enthusiasm I seem to have lost! Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, aside from a few stalwarts, this forum has seen better days. I hope to continue the paint contest through the end of the year, but it is more and more difficult to make the effort. Soon I will be one of the forgotten, Kev! P.S. The Saturday google hangout will continue to be a thing and all are welcome.

Thanks, SpielMeisterKev!, for pointing out the performance hit long threads, with multiple images, can take on a PC downloading. It hearkens back to the days of dial-up, but the reality is that not everyone has hi-speed Internet service. Not only that, but downloading loads of images can slow down lower-performing PC's, as well. I think those of us who are blessed with both hi-speed ISP's and powerful PC's, tend to forget that not everyone has the Internet horsepower the rest of us have. I actually prefer multiple threads: it creates new threads, which is not a bad thing, IMO. It tends to refresh this site a bit. I agree, since DM Scotty abandoned this forum for FB, things have certainly slowed down. As stated previously, I can't tolerate FB. This is my preferred method of posting/sharing. Thanks for the shout-out, SpielMeisterKev!. Though I do not participate in the painting contests for a few reasons, I appreciate the effort you put into it. I hope you stick around for a long time. When it comes time to leave this forum, I'd be happy to turn off the lights, but... I don't know where the switch is! Cheers!

I hope when this forum grinds to a halt, the content will be left up for others to find by searching. There's some wonderful, inspiring stuff in here. I'd hate for it to vanish from the web.

Cheers! having multiple threads also risks losing your work to mass thread posts like this though . YES it may slow down some older PC's , but it means ALL of his work would be there to be seen , not JUST those that are more popular and get commented on . how many new members REALLY go back more than 2 pages in the MULTIPLE sections of a forum like this ? past 3 pages ? all the way to the end ? updating ONE thread always bumps it to the top to let people know new content is added , and gives better access to one pieces .
i too HATE FB . this very reason of burying posts is the biggest part of that .
and its sad that some people seek the riches of the social media life . while i greatly respect scotty , he is off being a "content creator" , so most of the posts i DO see from him on FB is to promote his personal website , his patreon , or his amazon affiliate links . i DO have my own YOUTUBE channel , but i hope its never as big as scotty's . i want to do what i do for the love of gaming , not for the need to get paid . its a problem i see with A LOT of the bigger channels , they seek sponsors , and do videos reviewing and pushing products (because they MUST make a video to get views and patereon donations rolling in ) , not actually MAKING something cool .

Just my two or three cents thrown in the ring:
Performance:
I understand the performance issue some people seem to have with long threads full of pics. My personal hunch is that there are less and less people with that problem, but I don't have any basis for that. I haven't read this complaint very often, so my guess is that this affects only a small minority in our community here.
So just a quick question thrown in to all of you: Who would prefer URLs to pictures instead of the pictures themselves?
Viewability and ease of viewing posts would go down, as we'd have to click on each and every picture (which would drive me mad, personally), but loading time of a thread would be shorter, solving the problem at first glance. However if you count in the time required to click on each pic, loading each pic and switching between browser tabs, the total time required to read a post would be up. So no time savings here, only more discomfort... Your opinion?
Multiple threads:
I decided against opening threads for individual projects because I have too many stuff to post. Since my very first crafted thing in April 2013 (a set of TP stalagmites) and the latest stuff, I counted 459 individual projects, almost all of them shared here. I would have totally swamped the forum with threads. But that's just my opinion, ymmv.
Forum life:
I hope traffic will go up again eventually, but I'm not sure it will. There have been discussions about the reasons before, so I won't open that rabbit hole again....
I certainly won't share my stuff on facebook due to the privacy issue: I use FB as little as possible, and don't want private stuff like my hobbies linked to my online personality.
I also don't really want to migrate to other forums with more active communities because 1) I love this community for how great the mood is here (no trolls, everyone respects everyone etc) and 2) because I can't possibly migrate my stuff and would have to start from scratch with documenting my projects.

While I have a FB account, I mostly use FB to post about social events. Saying Happy Birthday to someone, posting a gathering to people I know will be interested, etc. I'm not really interested in posting stuff about my gaming hobby, not that I'm ashamed of it, I've lived through the DnD is bad era and never had a problem with it then and easily weathered the storm. My gaming hobby won't cause issues with my professional life, which I understand isn't the same for everyone. One of the guys I game with keeps his gaming hobby separate from his professional life as he feels it could negatively impact it. I completely understand his feelings and make sure to respect his wishes. While I have a Youtube channel like you grandinquisitorkris, I don't make a lot of videos so I don't expect to make money off of it. Sure it would be nice to make enough money to live off of my hobby, but I might not love my hobby as much anymore if I followed that path and would rather keep those two elements separated. As far as posting on the forums tauster, I think posting full pictures is still the way to go as I don't mind the time it takes to load the images, plus I don't really like clicking on a link to view the picture as much as just letting it load. I also think we should continue the way we are going as far as thread posting is concerned. I agree with sgtslag as far as the performance issue of long threads. SpielMeisterKev! thanks for mentioning me in your post. I feel bad that I don't participate in your painting contest, I do paint and could enter figures, I just don't take the time to post any of my painted figures. Also, I get into a painting frenzy, paint a few figures for a while, then stop for a while, not painting anything for weeks at a time. I wish I could discipline myself, but currently I just can't, to busy with other projects. I would be unhappy if this forum died, I like seeing the items you guys come up with and provide us glimpses of. It's nice to see other peoples hobbies, even more importantly, I like making comments to you guys, joking around and also inspiring as well as receiving inspiration from each of you. I agree that we have a great community here, though I do miss those who don't post here anymore, but life goes on.
One more thought, I'm going to try and get on the chat this Saturday. My big problem with joining the chat is I usually game Saturday nights, so I'm not around to join! But this Saturday is an off night, so as long as the wife doesn't expect me to watch tube with her...

i hate threads with just URL's , the hosting sites want their add revenues , so it means having to scroll through multiple pages on most sites and some take more time to load .
