In my campaign the players have become undead.
In an effort to cure themselves they need 'water of cleansing' ,which can be found in a fountain in a valley. Once the players arrive at the fountain an angel is sitting on it and there's no water. The angel recognises that they are undead and once they explain themselves gives them a riddle:'Once Pelor smiles at thay fountain. Water will flow through the mountain.' Than the angel disappears. The party notices a mirror at the top of the fountain (if they are looking for clues/ making a perception check). The trick is to (with help of the insight skill) position the mirror in such a fashion that the light shines directly on it. Light referring to Pelor the god of the sun smiling. Once this is done succesfully water will pour out of the fountain. PS: The water will flow through the mountain part refers to that they are in a valley BTW I'm sorry for spelling mistakes or for Grammar English is not my first language

We can always use more puzzles.

while it is a nice simple puzzle, I would suggest there is a lot of interesting game opportunities for a party of undead. I think I might make em wait a bit. Make it an array of mirrors, that are out of alignment, and only function on Pelors Holy days when they are in alignment. Make the fountain a relic of a local saint, whose cloister is located in the mountains, and now houses only the very old preistess and her charges - lets make em orphans... The key to fixing the alignment is there, but the troop has to do it prior to the next holy day or lose the opportunity of half a year (equinox, Probably..). But establish that, should their actions in the cloister offend Pelor, they may not get the aid they seek.
As Undead, make them try to figure out a socially engineered solution to getting the information they need to solve their problem.. (I am thinking they probably can't physically approach the cloister without getting a pretty normal hostile reaction to undead, at the minimum locking them out, and calling for help from the closest force of arms, with perhaps a few nasty spells cast their way). But if they craft written messages - or perhaps communicate through an intermediary - perhaps a young blind orphan - they might be able to gain a sympathetic ear.
In the mean time, they still must feed, and they lose a bit of themselves every-time they do. And feeding would be its own complication. They could feed on animals, but make it very difficult for them to locate wilde beasts, because they naturally shy away from their now occult nature. Which leaves domestic animals, but their undead nature tends to leave gory remains (feeding takes over and drives them by instinct.) Further, lower animal forms simply don't adequately provide the needed sustenance (there is a reason zombies eat humans, as it were..) Each time period they fail to eat, they lose stats, and increase the chance of an uncontrolled feast. If during a time period they feed on animals, they lose less, and slightly improve their chance of not running amuck. If they eat sentients, they gain back the stats, and maybe more so, but they don't improve the chance of maintaining self control, because that act really feeds their new undead nature. How long you define each time period depends on how you ref your game.
Something like that, anyway.. If they sucessfully gain the aid of the cloister, and still have the intellectual stats, they can repair the mirror and lens array, and start the water. If they have deteriorated too far, they may find another to do it.. But they may just pass fully into the netherworld of the Undead..

Kokigami: This was not the only thing they had to do. They also have to recover the Chalice of Life which they have to go through a dungeon for I wasn't gonna let them go that easily

I would have them break into a sacred monastery on a high mountain side, battle through hordes of samaritans and novice clerics, butchering creatures of light (unicorns, angels, good dragons, etc) in order to obtain the chalice of life.

Should not have assumed. Just got excited about the idea of handing them a problem that required social skills while being undead. It reminded me of adventures I have heard of from other people who play Empire of the Petal Throne..

No problem Kokigami I also didn't make it all perfectly clear btw AJ That's a good idea if you're dealing with experienced players but my players are still learning it. We still need to get everything together and we need to learn but we'll come around eventually
