here is my first try to make a setting for the table...
i need to improve a lot of things yet, but is my really first time setting a table for wargaming, i am sssso happy about it ( just i need a friend to play with hahaha....ops, i dont have any friend here in japan....oh wait, this is so sad best regards to everyone!
i also make a video about it...
if someone reed this and want to give an advice about how to set a wargaming table please go ahead...any advice would be appreciated!
Different games offer ways to place terrain, but its ultimately up to you really.
Set up 2-4 big peices, then 5-6 medium, and more or less of the small scatter terrain. From here you might roll for who goes first, then that person picks a side of the table, then the opponent gets the opposite side.
This is what I usually do. When I play with my 10 and 14 year old I'll let them set the table and go first, and I take the side they purposefully left with no terrain to hide with! lol
Why is everyone scared of beholders? I hold bees all the time.
The gaming scene in Japan is interesting, from what I gather they have thier own versions of D&D and whatnot.
Are there any hobby stores, or maybe if you live near a US military base, theres always tons of guys that play anything they can at a local store.
this is a very nice idea! i will try it, i think there is a military base close to my area but i never thought go over there...maybe i am not allowed to entry ( i dont know how exactly works,,,) and i think in tokyo there are people that plays, and a community but..at first, i never played in my life so i am completily noob, and second, the language....dont know enough english and enough japanese... also i am so busy at work and family...
wait...why i am making scenography then¿¿¿? hahahahaa my best regards erho, always a pleasure chat with you man!

i would like to share a couple of pics i took meanwhile making my first animated battle reports series about Mordheim... please note : i will upload to the forum the paper miniatures, and you can use it when ever you want but i will do it later, i have some issues and cant be able to have the jpg file...just pdf..anyways, i will do as soon as i can!
so... i made my miniatures on paper, scan them and colouring by hand with colour pencils i cut them...one by one...more or less one hour of work..didnt know it takes so many time!
i made a foam base with a removable system...( for the sprites...)
and set it on the table!!
also i was thinking a lot in how to make backgrounds in a very cheap and easy way...so finally i decided to use my own computer to put and image and use it ( simulating a green screen ) in front on my computer i just placed my board...
well..is just the beginning, i am trying to mix " green screen " and 3d terrain and of course 2d terrain to create a final image...anyways, the point is i already started my Mordheim campaign...so in the next post and videos ( on my YouTube channel ) we are going to see a lot of staff about it! apologizes again for the spanish on my videos but well...i was a little tired and didnt have time ( energy to add subtittles! i leave a link to my first episode of the campaign...
my best regards to everyone, you guys take care! ( what a long post...sorry about that )

sgtslag: Started working on making hills, which match my Tee-Time carpet I use for my "grass mat," on my gaming table, for big battles. Got two long chunks of open-cell foam, from a friend. Used my Proxxon Hot Wire Cutter to make terrain hills out of them.
Jul 26, 2020 20:12:40 GMT
sgtslag: Came up with around 80 hills. Covering them with the same carpet, from scraps. They will match the tabletop, perfectly. Contact Cement, is my friend. Will post on it, when I get the pictures uploaded. Some prototypes done, as proof-of-concept...

randywest: does anyone know more manufacturers for 1/72 fantasy minis besides Dark Alliance, Caesar and Elhiem?
Sept 14, 2020 14:16:19 GMT
sgtslag: 50 Hills completed, 24 left to cover the sides on. Hoping to finish this project within the week. Then I'll post a build description. For war gaming, but it can cross over to RPG sessions... They match the ground 'cloth', perfectly.
Sept 19, 2020 19:03:09 GMT
sgtslag: Sorry, randywest, the listed makers are the only ones I know.
Sept 19, 2020 19:03:34 GMT
sgtslag: Ran out of Hot Glue, with only five hills left to add a skirt to the sides of. Wal-Mart closes at 8:00 PM, thanks to COVID. GRRRrrr! Another 30 minutes of work, and I would have been done: ~77 hills, modular, perfectly matching my table's ground cloth!
Sept 23, 2020 2:50:39 GMT
sgtslag: Will post a write-up soon, or after next week's vacation. Cheers!
Sept 23, 2020 2:51:57 GMT
sgtslag: Hoping to acquire a Chop Saw within the next two weeks. Then I will cut up MDF into triangles, to form the skeleton of my d20 fantasy world globe... Posting will follow, with how-to guide. Cheers!
