A mostly finished trap idea that I have been working on that might at least provide ideas.
Appearance:
A nonagonal room with mirrors on each of the walls apart from the door. The door appears to be ordinary, though it locks from both sides.
Description:
Upon close inspection, the walls have a winding, intricate pattern scratched into the surface, the details slowly shifting yet always identical to the rest. The door is a lot sturdier than it looks, and lacks any observable hinges. The room is impossibly clean, any smudge or stain left upon any surface within disapears when not being observed, and liquids seeps into the flagstone floor with no trace. A diabolical enchantment is woven into the very walls of the room, even those who don't fall under its sway are effected to some degree.
Effects:
Sapient creatures that enter the room must pass a DC15 wisdom check or become enchanted, Lawful-Good aligned creatures automatically pass and any Evil aligned creatures automatically fail. Creatures that fail the save see any other creatures in the mirrors that passed the check as an illusion/disguise/shapeshifter, which ever is more likely, and if they stay in the room for longer than four hours they are treated as if under the effects of Crown of Madness for as long as they remain within it. Any player whose character passes the check is given a note of some sort telling them that everything looks "just fine". Anything that notices the pattern becomes disorientated while within but immune to the rooms other effects.
