Hey guys,
I'm new to crafting... was trying to decide if I wanted to go the cardboard route or do some casting... and then I moved. They used so many dishpack boxes it's ridiculous - and they left them here for me. It's like 12 big boxes! Double thick cardboard. I'm not particularly a religious person but this seems to be a sign. I also realize that when I calculate it out... I've got 300 sq feet of this stuff. Not including the almost 300 sq feet of regular boxes. No way I can use all of this cardboard! Anyone in the DC/Nova/Md area that wants to get together and do some crafty goodness?

Welcome on board, jessi! Can you fill one of those big boxes with cardboard and ship it to Germany? ;-)

I almost had a job in Munich! If only! Then we could have shared some cardboard goodness and you could have taught me about German Beers!

Munich would still be a good 4 hrs (by car) away from my place...

Well, I am in the NOVA but I have a good supply of cardboard from vendors shipping me product If you can just store it for a bit until you get a good idea how much you are going to run through, you might be shocked depending on how you want to do your tiles. -R

After I cut all the cardboard down (where it bends) into individual sheets I'll post a picture of just how much I have...

Good luck, use as much as you can. I had a stack of broken down cardboard boxes as high as my head after we moved this summer. That was long before I discovered this site and I ended up sending almost all of that to a recycling factory.
C'est la vie.

thedmg - I would love to... but I live in a 680 sq ft apartment so I have no where to store the mega dungeon. Once I get my own place again - I will have a game room where mega-dungeon will be a moral requirment

After cutting down all of the double thickness cardboard and throwing out the unusable stuff... this is what I am left with. imgur.com/wBE6fK0

Nothing pains me more than when a nice sized piece of my cardboard gets creased or bent, so nice safe stacks like that are important for surplus . Your massive stack reminds me of the pile I have going in my deck closet at the moment. I think a lot of my friends used to think I was losing it, until I showed them what it could become! Welcome on-board, can't wait to see what you decide to make with that behemoth!

Oh yeah, jessi, don't forget to stockpile some cardstock too. By the time I realized how useful it was in conjunction, I had next to none of it. No area I've ever lived in has actually accepted it for recycling (even though it clearly should be), so it makes me feel extra happy about re-purposing it.

m3talslime - That's just the double thickness cardboard... I haven't cut down the regular cardboard. Thanks for the advice on the cardstock! I'm about to start my first constructions (today) so I'll pay attention to where it could be useful. Oh... and now that it is in manageable sizes... I'm hoping I can store it under my sofa. Not much room in this apartment. Evidently places in the DC area are notoriously small and notoriously expensive!

Try Sydney! It's notorious for being rediculously expensive. In the global housing slump prices went up...jeez.
You should craft a storage box aswell, with skulls and stuff to ward off normal people.

That appears to be an imperial buttload.
Happy crafting.

It reminds me of the end of "The Sandlot" when they find the hoard or baseballs The Beast took and a kid says "Wow! Now we can play forever!"

I still need to create some T's and 4 way intersections. I'm trying to get a basic set of reusable corridors and small rooms down that I can just use over and over again and from then on my crafting can concentrate on creating the custom non-reusable areas for each campaign.
Viva La Cardboard!
