First ever terrain: trees! I used this tutorial. It turns out that setting up little scenes with your minis when taking pictures is the really fun part of terrain crafting...

Really nice trees, veshke! I love the old-school feel of the crayon-colored terrain. Could be quite fun, and relaxing, to draw out terrain mats with crayons. I am intrigued with the idea of using wooden dowels for the trunks, and making taller trees, with platforms for PC/monster mini's to stand on, higher up. Problem is, I would rarely use such trees in my games... However, they could play a better role in my BattleSystem/BS Skirmish games. Hmmmm... Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

With that kind of tree, another easy way to improve the look of the foliage is to give that part of it a good layer of glue and roll it in flock...

Thanks! I've been looking at some different kinds of flock but haven't acquired any yet - I don't really make a lot of sawdust in my day-to-day life so it'll probably be a while before I can make flock by that method.

I would be interested to see this method with the flocking added... As it is presented, it is simple, quick, and effective. Adding flock is a bit more effort; concerned about it falling off, too, with handling. I would enjoy seeing what the enhancement of flocking would look like.
I am all about simple, fast techniques, and as presented, this one is a home-run, landing in the back 40 of the parking lot! Still, I don't want to close a door, prematurely... The flocking might move the ball to landing in the back parking lot on the Mega-Mall, three blocks over from the field. Cheers!

Better pictures of the stuff from noobwars, but not the pictures I ended up submitting because I forgot to put the minis in them for scale: I'm really pleased with the photo of the campfire especially - a friend lent me her Actual Camera for this

Everything looks great. I especially like the fire pit. Where is the pot from?

I made the pot out of sculpey and wire - I'm so excited that you think I might have bought it somewhere!

Thanks! I've been looking at some different kinds of flock but haven't acquired any yet - I don't really make a lot of sawdust in my day-to-day life so it'll probably be a while before I can make flock by that method. In my opinion, unless you create a massive amount of very fine sawdust, it's not really worth it to make your own flock. However, don't buy the flock marketed towards wargamers, it's a massive waste of money. If you have a Hobby Lobby or similar near you, they tend to have the larger containers of flock that are intended for diorama makers and model railroaders, that's the exact same thing but for a lot less. The small thing of snow flock I bought a long while back cost me about 10$ and was, perhaps, about a half cup of it, the 10$ I spent on a railroading flock would be more of a half-gallon sized thing and jammed in tight so that I needed another container to store what got shaken off because it wasn't going to be jammed back inside easily. And Hobby Lobby also has their weekly 40 off coupons you can use on the flock... As a major note, I don't really consider Scotty's Pencil Shavings thing as flock, it works great as weeds and straw, but it doesn't look like grass or other things to me.

Damn fine work! That pot is fantastic, as is everything else. Impressive work. Very impressive work! There is much to be proud of. That flame is just as impressive as the pot... Cheers!

Very nice trees! They must look striking on the table - and I agree about making little scenes with your figs/terrain being nearly the best part of the hobby...
I'm also admiring the patience to work with such small craft. That tent and campfire are amazing. Keep it up!
