Hey Folks, I work as an archaeologist, teacher and anthropologist, and I've begun a series detailing the history, folklore and mythology of your favorite monsters. I'm working some bugs out still, but I hope you'll enjoy.

I created an account, just so I could reply to your post. You have me looking forward to your next delivery! Loved the content and loved the visuals presented. There are audio annoyances, but as you said this is a Gen1 product, so harsh judgement is not warranted! The delivery seemed a bit over dramatic, but after the first couple of minutes, it became normal to me What's your next subject? Dragons? Werewolves? Zombies? I'm interested to see how you'll cover such things as Gelatinous Cubes, Displacer Beasts or Peryton! Will you move, eventually?, into pure fantasy creatures, or will you stick with creatures that have historical equivalents, like griffons, cyclops, naga, etc, so that there is more content to pull from across various cultures and time periods? Thanks for your current videos - quite enjoyable and I've sent this forum link to a few of my gaming geek buddies - telling them they need to check them out!

Wow, thanks sunwolfnc, that's some high praise! Yes I do apologize for the audio, I had to switch from one DAW to another and there was a bit of a learning curve, but I should have them ironed out somewhat in the next episode.
And yes it's VERY overdramatic, granted. That's partially me trying to ape my own writing and partially me trying to ape Nerdwriter1, but also the Troll episode was the first I wrote so it's a bit stilted on its own. I'll be working on that likely as long as I'm doing these, but that really helps.
I plan on primarily sticking with creatures and monsters which originate in folklore, yet have bearing on today (ie everyone knows the Minotaur but not everyone knows Yokai etc). Anything that is also covered by the Monster Manual gets quite a bit of preference, even though this won't be D&D exclusive. That said, when it comes to several MM monsters, I still plan on covering them in some depth, like the Chinasaurs that led to the Owlbear and Rust Monster as one episode, or the original creations like the Beholder, the Gelatinous Cube, and the Displacer Beast as it's own. As far as "Dragons, Werewolves, Zombies" go, all I can say is "yes, yes and yes" with at LEAST one of them being a two-parter.
I've written about 5 scripts ahead, and while I don't want to spill too much, the next episode will be the humble (but not really) Kobold.

Fortunately, such is not my goal. AJ's videos are fantastic, creative, in depth looks at monsters purely from a D&D perspective and only within that plane of observation. Mine emphasize the real-world folklore, mythology, religious aspects through to modern day fantasy and pop culture. I do this through linguistic histories and comparative studies through an anthropological lens. and thanks!
